Title: Understanding
Rating: NC-17
Author: Dana (me)
Warning: yaoi, mpreg, crack, none beta
Pairing: Reita x Saga
Fandom: Jrock, gazette, alice nine
Disclaimer: I own nothing but my own insanity, and I make no money with this... or in any other way... >_>
Author's note: ZOMG! Saga pregy & very, very special! Poor Reita...
Plot: After a drunken night Reita still wants to make it work with Saga. He is given a chance, but a few week s into their relationship Reita learns of his lover's shocking secret...

Facts I ignore in this fiction:

-Hermaphrodites can’t have children, can’t get pregnant or even get someone pregnant.
-Hermaphrodites don’t have both sexual characteristic. Their sexual organs look somewhat like a cross between those of females and men.
-Vanishing twin/ Chimera at most cases will affect only DNA of the person, giving different structures of DNA within the same person. There is only one confirmed case in which a chimera affected someone’s sexual appearance. It was in Scotland, the child has a penis, one testicle, and an ovary and fallopian tube instead of a second testicle. Some of the child’s cells are XX and some XY.
-Chimerism can cause mental problems

As you can see, I kind changed the two and molded them so that I can create a fictional explanation for the male pregnancy.

Reita woke up to the phone ringing. He looked down to Saga still sleeping in his arms and the happenings of the previous day came running back to him. He untangled himself from the covers as well as Saga’s arms. Hi body protested the loss of warmth but he stumbled across the room none the less looking for the phone.

The old man’s voice came from the other side when Reita answered. “Well, I’m surprised to hear you are still there. Is Saga still asleep?”

Reita threw a look back to the bed to see if Saga woke up. No, he rolled over with a grunt but seemingly still pretty much out of it. Reita smiled, Saga’s body looked for the warmth of his.

“He is still asleep. And I don’t feel like waking him up. It was a bad day yesterday.”

“Wake him up. I’m on my way there. You can leave after that.”

Reita sighed. “I can’t find any kindness in you old men”

“I have no kindness for you, or for the likes of you. I’ll be there in a few minutes.”

It was becoming more or less annoying that the old doctor seem to treat him like scum. He shrugged it off and walked back to his sleeping lover. He still had a lot to take in; much of the things that happened yesterday still haven’t sunk in. He felt like him was in some kind of dream, but the more thought he gave to it, the more restless he became. It all seemed logical when explained about Saga’s unique condition. But still, how could he get himself into such a mess.

He kneeled by the bed and observed the sleeping figure. Was it worth the trouble? No matter how it got explained or turned, it wouldn’t be easy. No happy end to hope for. Looking at the matter as a pessimist and realist it did give out a grim future. What was to come? Saga has the child, and then what? How would that child ever fit into social standards? How to present the fact that it’s mother is a man? How to explain?

Saga was beautiful and Reita loved him, but it was all a bit too much. To some point he wanted the child and that part of him was happy to think things worked out well, the one he loves can give him a family. But the other side, the sinister little voice kept oozing its poison. It was special and unique, and understandable, but so unnatural. How to deal with it all?

Reita sighed and swiped a few strands of hair of Saga’s face. He traced a finger down his cheek, pressing only slightly to wake him up. Saga mumbled in sleep and turned around leaving Reita to look at his back. With a smile Reita started poking Saga’s back. That worked, after a few pokes the other turned back to face Reita.

“That hurt. Not a nice way to wake up.”

“The doctor called. He is coming here. He doesn’t seem to like me much.”

Saga shrugged his shoulders “He is an old grouch.”

“Is it because of what I did to you?”

Saga frowned “It’s none of his business. Don’t give it much thought.”

Reita sat at the bad beside Saga. “I’m sorry.”

Saga extended his arms to invite Reita into a hug. Reita closed his eyes and nuzzled his nose against Saga’s neck. He hated himself so much for even thinking about walking away. He feared to ask what he had done that night. It was pretty obvious.

A little before the doctor arrived Saga went into the shower, he seemed a bit reluctant to leave Reita to let the doctor in, but remembering that he might get examined again he gave in.

Right from the doors the doctor gave Reita the cold shoulder. “You’re still here?”

“Yeah. Sorry to disappoint you.”

“I’m not disappointed, just surprised. I think it’s good that you are staying with Saga. It wasn’t something I would have expected of you. Good that you are taking responsibility for your actions, after all none of this is Saga’s fault.”

Reita frowned, the old man was really getting to him. “Whatever it is that I have done, and I do have an idea what that might be because it’s so painfully obvious, Saga had forgiven me. So you will need to let it go, especially since you are his doctor and we will need to work together on this.”

“You are right.” The old men took off his coat and handed it over to Reita after which he went to the living room.

Reita followed. “Can you tell me about the things I should expect in the future? What will happen to Saga? Or should we wait for him to get out?”

“We will wait. And while we wait maybe I should introduce myself. Right?”

Reita nodded “Sure.”

The doctor took a seat in a comfy chair. “My name is Makoto. I am the owner and chief of a privet clinic. I have been taking care of Saga’s health since he was about ten years old and I married his aunt. Also I will be taking care of his pregnancy.”

Reita sat on the couch. “That much I kinda figured. I doubt that many doctors would know what to do with this kind of case.”

“Most doctors would see it the same way I do. I few years of medical education, and some defects ignorant people see as side show attractions, get a logical and biological explanation. Laws of nature are not broken just because someone has extremely elastic skin, or is extremely tall. Some people are born unique.” The doctor seemed to hold some venom in his words. He didn’t want Reita to view Saga as some kind of a freak.

“I guess you are right.” Reita felt awkward.

The doctor looked him straight into the eyes. “I want to ask you something seriously. I need you to think hard and answer truthfully. Take this seriously. Saga will be here soon, you can give me the answer when you walk me to the door. Do you intend to stay with him out of love or guilt? Will you be by his side if things go wrong? Can you handle the stress and still give him warmth and support? If you can’t don’t give him hope. Get lost as soon as possible.”

Reita was pretty much gaping his mouth like a fish, taken aback by the question. But Saga did come a few seconds after the questions were set. He greeted the doctor and sat by Reita. He bore a gentle smile as he cuddled next to Reita who instinctively brought an arm around him.

The doctor sat back into the chair opposite of the lovers. “First to put aside what is already known. I tested the blood and urine I took from you yesterday and now there is absolutely no doubt. Saga you are two months into your pregnancy. You now have a very small window of time to make a choice. This is your choice alone.”

Saga nodded “I will keep the baby. I made my choice.” He looked up at Reita with a smile. Reita couldn’t help but smile back and kiss Saga’s forehead.

The doctor sighed “I figured you would say that. But please listen to some fact I will present to you. You need to know all. Both of you. Alight?”

Both nodded and the doctor continued “Let’s start with carrying the child. Pregnancy is uncomfortable at times. And Saga, to you it will be much harder. Your pelvis is not quite like that of a woman. The last trimester will be difficult for you. The baby will make itself comfy, but you will at times have to suffer some pain. At the same note, I doubt there will be any chance of natural birth. I will have you in my clinic before the term. I’m thinking two week before.”

Saga nodded “Alright. I understand.”

“Now that we got that out of the way I’ll tell you what you can expect in the coming time. The first trimester will be over in little less then a month. The agony you suffered yesterday will continue though it. At times it will hit you as strong as it did yesterday and at times it will be milder. You might get mild fevers and pains in abdomen. The baby is adjusting you to its pleasure so to say. Your immune system is also the target.”

“Onto the second trimester, the 4th to 6th month. The morning sickness will subside and go away, you will gain weight, your legs will become stronger, and you might get some back pains. The ‘quickening’ will appear.”

Reita raised an eyebrow “Quickening?”

“It babies movement. It mostly comes by 4th month. Then Saga will be able to feel the baby move inside.” The doctor noted the wide smile on Saga’s face “Smile about it while you can. When the baby kicks your kidneys in the dead of the night we will see if you can smile.”

Reita snorted, it was funny, but he got elbowed into the ribs.

‘Not that anyone wants to hear this, but in the second trimester the baby starts urinating.”

“Eww~ why did you tell me that? I would have rather not know.” Saga frowned and got ready to shove elbow again in case Reita found that funny too, but it seemed Reita was just as disgusted by the idea.

The doctor ignored them “This is where we will need to fear the miscarriage.”

Saga retreated closer to Reita; he placed a hand over his stomach. Reita glared at the old man. “Do you need to scare him?”

“He needs to know the facts, and so do you. I’ll continue now. The third trimester will give you move frequent movements of the fetus. You will have a very weak bladder and strong back pains. The fetus becomes stronger and aware of its surroundings. It will be greatly affected by the thing around it. Saga your emotions will be a part of that. It will feel with you just as it feed through you and breads protein water in your womb. In this trimester the baby get ready for the world, its muscles and eyes and brain functions and improved and perfected. Also there is no more risk of miscarriage. If something goes wrong the baby born prematurely can survive. But the premature birth is no good thing; it can affect the baby’s health instantly or even alter on.”

Saga seemed lost in though.

The doctor continued after shooting s sharp look at Reita. “Saga, you will need to keep your emotion under control and stress down as much as possible. I’m afraid you will have problems with dilation. It can happen in stressful pregnancies that the mother will get slightly dilated or contract before time, it don’t necessarily mean the time has come.”

After a minute or two of silence the doctor spoke again “Any questions?”

The lovers were wreaking their minds over the information and thought about possible questions.

Reita had a question. “When can we see the baby’s gender?”

Old man smiled “The second trimester.”

“Can we have sex?” Saga asked blushing quickly followed by Reita.

After a chuckle the doctor answered to the two blushing men. “Sure. Only till the end of the second trimester.”

Reita felt happy to hear that.

Saga made a grim expression “Is there anything I can do to get rid of the sickness I’m condemned to for the next month?”

“I’m afraid not, but you can make it more bearable. Try eating six small meals instead of three large ones; avoid having an empty stomach, eat dry crackers in the morning. Lemon is always good; also the very scent of lemons can help. Whenever you get a food craving fulfill it.”

Saga got up and excused himself “I need the bathroom.”

“I’ll be on my way now. I have a clinic to run. If you two have any more questions call me. I will schedule an examination soon. Try to have a nice day Saga. Can you walk me out Reita?”

Reita nodded and followed after the old man. When they were at the door Reita handed the doctor his coat. He was determined now. He heard all, he can deal with this. He needs to help Saga. He will silence the evil little voice telling him to escape.

“This is my child. And Saga is my love. I can do this and I will do the right thing. I won’t run away. Saga is worth it, he is just too special to let go.”

The doctor smiled. “I’m glad to hear that. Have a nice day.”

Reita leaned against the door after he closed it. Who wouldn’t want a child with their loved one? Suddenly it all seemed more like a blessing.

He walked back to the room to see Saga at the bed looking up at the ceiling.

“It’s not fair. I woke up about an hour ago. Why does it start now?”

Reita smiled and lay beside his lover. “What started?”

“I feel sick.” Saga rolled to his side and looked at Reita “Thank you.”

Reita smiled “I love you.” He turned and leaned forward to plant a soft kiss on Saga’s lips. After he drew back he grinned “Want some crackers?”
