Update: SpongeBob Vs Fox&Friends

Aug 10, 2011 01:19

Fox and Friends with Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson had a segment labeled:  SPONGEBOB'S BIAS;  CARTOON BLAMES MAN FOR GLOBAL WARMING

Well I still cannot find a link to this occurrence on a Fox News Site.  So here goes a brief recap and some context.

On July 20th the Department of Educated hosted an event called, "Let's Read!  Let's Move!" to promote reading and exercise with author Maya Soetoro-Ng (Obama's half sister) and NFL Linebacker Chris Draft.

On August 3, 2011 on Fox and Friends with Steve Doocy and Gretchen Carlson
Steve Doocy, "The Department of Education invited a bunch of DC kids in and they had this festivity and they handed out these particular Nickelodeon books where clearly Nickelodeon is pushing a global warming agenda."
Gretchen Carlson, "The government agency showed kids this cartoon and handed out books that blame man for global warming, but they did not tell kids that that is actually a disputed fact. Oops."   A Spongebob Squarepants cartoon is shown that includes poking gentle fun at misunderstanding global warming.

Tim Tutten, Department of Education- "We've never shown any videos ever, so I have no idea where that is coming from,"
Justin Hamilton Press Secretary of the US Department of Education:  Corporate sponsors provided a variety of books for the children to choose from including the Nickelodeon book 'SpongeBob Goes Green!  An Earth Friendly Adventure.'
Justin Hamilton-“The kids get to pick whatever books they’re interested in,"

Okay so far Carlson's statement has managed to be one part Inaccurate and one part Misleading, but how about Global Warming?

Gretchen Carlson-"SpongeBob is talking a lot about global warming, and he's only looking at it from one point of view,"
Steve Doocy. "They (some parents) say the books are being used to push an over-the-top green agenda regarding global warming."
Steve Doocy.  "Clearly Nickelodeon is pushing a global warming agenda, and while there's no disputing the fact that the earth is getting a little warmer, the big question is, is it man made, or is it just one of those gigantic climactic phases that we're going [through]?"

Global Warming?  Okay lets answer that question:   In the mainstream Scientific Community there is consensus that Human activity is changing the climate.

Well far be it from me to take the side of a fictitious character but Fox & Friends turned out to be three types of wrong.  Oops!

SpongeBob for the Win!
