I just found out Matthew Thiessen and his Fiance called off their engagement. How awful. After watching the Mavs get tossed like salad by the Suns, I didn't think anything could be worse, but that did the trick. On another note, I go back to Austin later today after I roll around in my bed for a few hours attempting to sleep. What awaits me? A really hard semester in which I have to write a 25 page paper or somethin like that for my Public Policy class. An internship with Austin City Council candidate Chris Riley. A Harvard and UT Law grad, co-founder of Austin Car-share (one of the coolest organizations around), owner of one of one of the most energy efficient homes in Austin off of 15th street, non-owner of a car(he rides his bike around town), and all around smart growth and anti-sprawl advocate. I'm pretty excited. His vision for Austin is right in line with mine and I don't think I could have asked for a greater opportunity to work alongside people passionate about bringing a community oriented way of life back to America. In 7 days, I will be embarking on a roadtrip across this great nation to witness one of the greatest moments in American history, the swearing-in of a man who embodies the realization of the American dream, and that dream that my most influential figure once proclaimed to a nation divided upon itself. Yet we are still divided, in a time in which we can't afford to be. And I swear, if anyone boo's Rick Warren, I might bust them over the head with my mom's "Purpose Driven Christmas" book I keep seeing laying around the house. Hmmm, let me think of what else I'm looking forward too. Hopefully a Get Up Kids reunion show. Hopefully late night bike rides down South First if I can figure out how to put a new chain on my bike. Hopefully a victory as President of the University Dems. The opening of the commuter rail line Austin. Weekend trips to Elgin for some of that famous sausage, here I come. Going to church more, finding friends I don't feel embarassed to talk about Jesus with. OMG I just realized I'm gonna be in D.C. on MLK day. Hopefully participating in some type of memorial celebration in D.C. for MLK day. Dang, I just found out the rail line to Elgin won't be opening till some time in the next 25 years.... maybe Chris Riley will have something to say about that. The line opening at the end of March goes to Leander. Maybe being more in touch with my local music scene(who knows). Being myself.
