Escape
Alex lay on the lumpy cot he'd been giving staring up at the ceiling. His cell was dark and he hoped it would work in his favor as he gently worked his hand back and forth trying to sharpen the broken bit of metal he'd pulled from the cot frame against the wall. It wasn't going to be the prettiest weapon but it would do what he needed it to do. He was dirty, bruised, and still not feeling well from the blood they'd taken or the injections they'd given. He was going to get out of here and he was going to get home. Alex had a family that needed him and that he needed.
He heard foot steps in the hall and froze waiting to see who was coming. When Alex saw the head scientist his hand clenched on the metal shank. He could see the needle in the man's hand as he used the other to unlock the cell door. He knew he had to time this just right or he wasn't sure if he was going to be able to make it out of here without taking even more damage.
Alex exhaled slowly waiting until the scientist was poised beside him before springing forward jamming the shank into the man's gut. The syringe dropped to the floor rolling under the cot. A grunt escaped the other man and Alex had to smirk at his captor,"Time for me to go Doc."
He pulled back his arm stabbing forward again enjoying the sight of his weapon buried inside his tormentor. Alex dug in the dying man's pockets to get his keys before scrubbing his bloody hands off on his pant legs. It was now or never and he needed to move. He crept forward not seeing any visible guards as he made his way down the hall and slid out the door. He blinked furiously to adjust his eyes before bolting toward the fence. As he scrambled to get away Alex made sure to glance around from what he saw this was not a fully sanctioned lab. The buildings were in a serious state of disrepair and he only saw two guards who weren't paying any attention at all. He hit the ground with a grunt and took off.
From an office half a world away a call was answered,"Let him go, we have what we need."
