So i was reading Miss Emily's post about the tsunami..... and it got me to thinking........ and then to discussing........ and now to maybe beleiving

Emily did not watch the discovery channel too closely, either that or they presented wrong information. Tsunamis have been in existance for an extremely long time, certainly before 1946.
"13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." <--- I am curious as to how you interpret that statement. Does that mean that only Christians will be saved, or believers of Christ? It is this very point that has always repelled me from Christianity, seeing as how the so-called "forgiving God" would condemn so many good people. Plenty of people who have been raised to believe in different religions lead equally, if not even more, rightous lives yet they will be punished? I am curious about your thoughts on that, I'm not trying to sound accusing just inquisitive.
i don't believe that you have to be a "christian" i would like to believe that a simple belief in god would do. I am a church attendent who no longer attends do to a disgust concerning organized religion. However, i do believe in the end it would be god's judgement, i do not believe he would condemn the tribes running around in the amazon, with a lack of knowledge in much more then poison plants and edible plants. I do believe in the bible is says, i may be wrong thought, that every human is born with the knowledge of their creator, and in the end some people have interpreted their creator differently doesn't make it wrong, it simply means that their relationship with their "god" maybe be different from someone elses. If you do believe in god then i would imagine that you may agree with the fact that he is not human and his way of thinking therefore cannot be human-like meaning in the end it is his decision and i would highly doubt he would be unjust.

Not to be a bible banger...but, do you believe the bible?? do you think God lies?? If you do believe the bible and do NOT think God lies, then why would you say something like "I don't believe you have to be a christian" The bible reads CLEARLY that you must believe in God and KNOW THAT JESUS IS HIS SON!! That is the only way to heaven. ONLY WAY!! The other "gods" do not have Jesus as their son. JESUS IS THE ONLY WAY! --Just to set the record straight. :) Have a great day

Do I believe in the Bible (I know you're not addressing me but I was interested in your comment)? I believe it is a series of stories contrived to be a representation of how people of the Christian faith should lead their lives. In many cases I agree with it as well, never in my life am I going to kill anyone or commit adultury or anything outlandish like that. The "turn the other cheek" theory also holds merit, and has been used effectively by great figures such as Ghandi

In comment to the "read the other texts of other religions" thing: I totally agree. I think thats a really good healthy idea not only to strengthen your own faith or maybe even change it, but also to know and understand other people's views. I think it would actually unite and create a bond between peoples all over the world.
However, on the other side, I dont think you should necessarily read it looking to change your faith. I, for one, would never read any other text to inquire about their faith in order to change mine. I have a relationship with God. I KNOW he exists. Thus, I know my religion is real and the correct one.
People who are unsure of their faith should definatley read other texts to solidify their religion. I, however, and a lot of people, dont need that reassurance.

I am glad you have religion and a good relationship with God. I guess the only reason why I've been presenting my case is that a part of me was hurt that you, and others, think that I'm going to burn for an eternity. But I won't take it personally. I think we just see things differently, and I definately respect your side.

i would just like to point out that not only are you closed-minded, you are an IDIOT.
"Do you think it is "just" that over 1000 people died (more than twice the people of 9/11)"
that would put the number of dead on 9/11 at 500. please tell me that was just a stupid moment, and that you really do know that it was more like ten times that... yes, the titanic sinking was a tragedy, but nothing like 9/11, which i might add also is paled in comparison to the tsunami...

do you think that everyone in heaven will be quote "a christian"? That is what i meant, i do not believe that god is some condemning fascist. Obviously because he sent his son, i was simply trying to quell her fears on the comdemning aspect of god's judgement. I agree that jesus is the way, however i don't believe that if you've never heard of jesus, god will comdemn you. It is possible to reach the world, however man will most likely not do it, and i don't like to think of these people's blood being on "christians" hands because they didn't reach them. Ultimately it is god's choice and i believe that he will, take into consideration a person's circumstances. Why would he not? He's a compassionate god. He doesn't want anyone to go to hell, that's why he sent jesus. And i don't agree with the missionary statement made below, there will be people that are not reached, and i do believe that god will manifest himself to people who truly seek him, however there really is no way to ensure that everyone will hear about jesus, and i don't

how can you NOT agree with the missionary statement below? that is a form of hearing about Christ. It's Christian's way of spreading His light...
I didn't mean it was the only way they can hear about Jesus, I jsut said it was a way Christians were to trying to help those who havent heard.
God ultimatley makes the decision. I was saying that he woul dnot let someone just waste away and go to Hell... He'll find a way to make him self known, whether through missionaries, the Bible, or even other Christians..

Of course it is a form of hearing, i was trying to say that even if for one reason or another missionaries, christians, anyone cannot get to the entire world, god himself will judge those who had not an opportunity to hear of his son, according to their experiences in life
