Man, another month?

I can't believe how fast time goes. It has been a month since my last post. CRAZY!! I will continue to try to do better.

I got a set of prismacolor pencils for Christmas. I love how portable they are! I am always lamenting the lack of portability of art supplies (from my perspective - some has to do with ease of cleanup and so on). Now, I don't feel cheated.

Drawing has always been something I am comfortable with. Back in the day, if I had number 2 pencil and some paper, I was good to go. If I had a drawing pencil, an actual sketch pad, and an eraser, all the better. I had several sketchbooks that were filled over the years, from all different eras, all different subject matter. Unfortunately, My ex trashed them (when he needed some help). The one thing I really miss is a portrait of my cat Midnight. It came out really well, and I miss Middie so much.

Anyway, all this is a long way to say taht I rather miss drawing. Although the prismacolors are technically a new media, in a way they are not. I have used pencil, conte and pastel in the past. These are less forgiving (no erasing or paitning out like acrylic) but I am digging the richness of the colors, and all sorts of things. I have a colorless blending pencil that is critical IMHO.

I will post a practice piece as soon as I complete it. It is a still life. It has been a fun exercise.

I also want to get it done so I can start on my glass challenge for non-glassers at EBSQ! I was immediately inspired by the pieces I was allotted by Dawn Thompson, glass artist extraodinaire. Can't wait to start!
