with my freedom from the mighty sky

I've been quite busy with work since I got back from vacation (wow, almost two whole weeks ago) which basically means I've been working a ton during the day and watching a lot of tv at night and it's taking me forever to sort my pictures. Here's some of them.

Hiking on Elden lookout in Flagstaff.

Strange volcanic rocks.

This crazy flourescent yellow lichen was everywhere.

Red rocks in and near Sedona.

Hiking in the desert near Wet Beaver Creek (yes, that's really what it's called. still makes me snicker).

The creek (which was really more of a river) very oasisy.

Hiking into the Grand Canyon on the Bright Angel trail.

Mule train on it's way up.

M and T ahead of me on the trail (I stopped to take pictures a lot).

We got many varied views of this cliff on the way down. It was pretty cool seeing it from above and then from the middle (we didn't make it down far enough to see it from below).

Walking along the rim (more view for less effort. though, even just walking around at 7000 ft is pretty tiring).

Tree sized juniper and blue blue sky.

It's so deep it doesn't seem real even standing right in front of it. It doesn't seem possible that something can be that big. Distance and scale totally have no meaning there.

And to add to the skewing of the scale of things there were condors soaring on the thermals just over the edge. Twelve foot wingspan.

The high desert on the drive back to Flagstaff. Those 12,000 ft. mountains are in Flag, you can see them from everywhere in town and also from the canyon an hour and a half away.
