They'll have to brave the weather ... Stand together.

It had been a long night.

Cam had slowly been getting accustomed to these late late night shifts, but staying up all night with a hurricane beating down the doors was not part of the regularly scheduled program. He had tried to calm himself by working on the head count sheets, but the list of missing people was sizable and depressing. When one of the IPD officers poked his head into the office to tell Cam they were evacuating the upper level, his heart sank. If concrete walls weren't enough protection, then anyone left out there was most assuredly ....

He put the papers and anything else vital away into several folders, tucking them in his arm as he descended the stairway. It was still early. The storm was still vicious, showing only dark, wet and violent shadows through the windows, but Cam's internal clock told him it was earlier than 9 am. Probably 5 or 6, judging from the sleeping forms he passed on the way to his bunk.

Stepping through the curtain, his eyes fell on Hunter, laying in his bed, a mess of bedsheets and limbs. If he had been sleeping through the night, it had obviously been a fitful rest. Still, seeing Hunter here caused a warmth in Cam's chest. Hunter was safe. Dustin was safe, too. He had seen the earth ninja earlier in the day, and knew he was somewhere in the compound. What little he had here in the way of family would survive this. He stepped farther into the room, tossing the folders down on Duo's bed. Duo's empty bed. The observation made him halt sharply, his lips moving before his brain even thought better of it. "Shit!"
