Soooo
The opera went really well. Better yesterday than Saturday, I was much less stressed out. I love my voice teacher and I adore David Holley - but they just about drove me out of my mind with the conflicting staging views the day before I went onstage. Maybe if I was more stage-experienced I would have tolerated it better, but I'm not - I want direction - just not a different one for every man that I respect.
Anyway after the show David and VC were both pleased, so last night I actually enjoyed myself. It was fucking awesome and I'm so sad it is over. I'll have pictures and stuff up eventually, but for now I have a question for you opera ladies.
Denyce Graves is giving a masterclass here soon, and I need some suggestions on what to sing. Think normal soprano rep. My arias are as follows:
Senza Mamma
Io son L'umile Ancella
Marietta's Lied (in progress)
Je dis
Or Sai Chi L'onore (in progress)
Donde Lieta (I'd have to dust it off)
Who is there to love me (from Barber's A Hand of Bridge)
Rusalka (in progress)
I'm also working on the Russian aria from Maid of Orleans.... delicious.
I'm a little terrified.
