Eventually the insomina would catch up with her, she was sure. But, for the time being she was holding her own. And restless. She laid in bed for a long time, until the first light of dawn peeked into her window, before tossing the sheets back and getting up.

After the massive drink Penelope had made her the night before, she'd dropped off fairly easily. But even so, she'd not been able to stay that way.

Feeling a bit groggy, but otherwise not terrible, she showered and dressed and then apparated to the shoppe. No one else was there yet and she went in, locking the door behind her, because it was hours yet before they would be open to the public. She shoppe always felt good to her, especially now, quiet and peaceful. She could feel him here. What had hurt so badly early on, seemed to slowly becoming a source of comfort. It was hard to believe it had been this long.

But there was tons of work to be done, and poor George had been killing himself, she was sure. So the extra time this morning would be devoted to getting him caught up, and hopefully ahead.

She wished she could do more.

Putting up a silencing spell, she got to work restocking and catching up the inventory. She'd work on the packaging after she was done with this.

George had nipped out for coffee and pastry and returned via the shop. It was Sunday, and everyone was sleeping. He could work a bit on the catalogue and maybe get a handle on the detonator issue while it was quiet.

He nearly dropped the bag when he pushed open the door to find his sister already in the back. "Hey Red. Snuck in early? I likely don't really need all 12 of these pastries. Developed a coffee jones lately but I could make tea." He walked over as he was talking, setting the bag on the table and kissing her head as he hugged her.

"Yup, couldn't sleep," she turned in his arms and kissed him back, hugging him tight. "What are you doing up this early?" She looked over at the bag on the table. "Yeah, I didn't eat. I could handle a pastry or two. But no coffee or tea. I still can't drink either. But don't tell Nev. I think he thinks that because I'm eating again I can handle hot tea. He'd be devestated if he found out. And he'd try to get me to drink it." She shuddered. "I'll do with water from the tap. You're going to eat with me, yeah?"

George nodded and huged her back. "Tell me why the hot drink thing is bad," he said. He'd been meaning to ask, but she'd never brought it up before. Shite brother, all around. "I have lots of pastries, including stuff with chocolate - just for you of course."

George let her go and summoned her a glass of water, and opened the pastries. "Eat up. You're too thin."

"Just for me? So you knew I was going to be here when you got back, did you?" she teased as she followed him to the table. "Do you think I'm too thin?" she asked, looking down at herself. She'd regained a bit, but wasn't up to her normal weight yet. Still, she looked much better than she had a few months ago.

She picked up a pastry and tore a piece off, knowing she was putting off answering him. "I... it was stupid, it is stupid. I just... I was pretty sick after Fred died. And I couldn't sleep and I couldn't get warm. And warm foods and drinks made me nauseous. Cause... well, he was... cold. I think part of me felt guilty for attempting to feel warm. I was with him a lot. Sorry. I know you don't need to hear that." But she hadn't wanted to lie either. She'd felt estranged from him for too long already.

George walked behind her and put his arms around her from behind, burying his face in her hair. She was the only sibling shorter than he was. Part of him would always see her as a laughing eight year old, trying not to cry when they left on the train. She was so much stronger than the rest of them though.

"Was he?" George asked. "Couldn't be there. Couldn't walk through the door of that house and know that there'd never be his laughter on the stairs again. I'm sorry I left you. All of you."

George kissed her hair. "You can tell me anything, yeah? Are you sleeping better now? And you're gorgeous, by the way."

"Yeah," she said softly as he wrapped her up in his arms. She laid her hands over his forearms and pulled them tighter around her. "I really had a lot of trouble with that. He... well... it bothered me that he felt so cold."

She shook her head. "You don't apologize to me. I don't blame you not wanting to be there. I didn't want to be there either. But no one else sat with him and mum and dad couldn't do it alone. I think all the boys were more than a bit uneasy." She smiled. "I can still hear his laughter, sometimes. Even if it is only in my head. Especially at night, when it's quiet. The Burrow was never quiet before and that was really hard at first. It isn't as terrible anymore. I think i've gotten used to it."

"I'm not sleeping good, no. The nightmares aren't like they were though. Not every night, and they don't generally make me ill when I do have them now. I just can't sleep very much, so I'm tired a lot." She turned her head and glanced at him, grinning. "You're biased. Or are you buttering me up to ask me for a favor? Should I be worried?"

George just hugged her. He would never understand why anyone thought they had to sit with the body, but he respected Ginny's right to do whatever she'd felt necessary. He preferred to remember his brother as the vibriant, loud, forec that he had been.

"I did to see him, the night before the funeral," George said, feeling like he owed her an explanation. He kissed her hair and thought about distracting her somehow.

"There are sleeping potions? You could nap during the day?" George shrugged and hugged her harder. "Nope, I'd never butter you up, and I'm not biased."

"Did you?" she asked absently. "I didn't know."

"There are, I'd prefer not to be addicted to one. In any event, I'm all right. I wasn't complaining, honest, just answering your question. It's not a big deal."

She snorted. "Right. You wouldn't butter me up? I don't believe that for a second."

George hugged her once more and then let her go in favor of moving to start some tea. He didn't have any solutions for sleeping. His own nightmares were always better when he slept with someone else - hence the four other people in his bed. Still, the last time he'd suggested that as an option she'd given him very logical reasons for why it was a bad idea.

He also hadn't been buttering her up. Still, if it would make her feel better to think so... George searched for something, some task, or favor, and came up blank. "Could be," he said, shooting her a smile over her shoulder, "but I always did hate to spoil a suprise. You'll just have to assume that I love you and felt the urge to make you smile."

"Ha, ha," she said, shaking her head at him and taking a bite of her pastry. "I assume that anyway, that you love me. However, I seem to remember that you liked to see me plaid rather than smiling when we were growing up. Or am I thinking of one of my other brothers?"

She grinned at him as he moved to make the tea. "So how are you? I mean, I know your'e not grand, but... you seem to be a bit better."

"Must have been one of the other ones. I've always been sweet and innocent and kind and long-suffering and... well, the list of altruistic adjectives is likely endless but I've run out." He flicked his wand at her, and turned her hair plaid.

"I'm good. Tired, but good. Jut keep on keeping on, yeah? Was surprised to hear about Bill and Fleur. Happy for them, and glad it's not me. Can't imagine bringing a child into... well, this."

"Right. One of the other less sweet and innocent ones." She moved a few steps further away from him. "You might want to invest in a lightning rod for the shoppe if you're going to keep saying things like that."

She glanced at her hair and blew him a kiss. "Do I look beautiful?" she asked, tossing her hair over her shoulder.

"Yeah," she said, picking at the chocolate pastry. "I was surprised too. Can't say I'm glad it's not me though." She took a sip of her water. "You'd make a good father, you know? Kid would be entirely warped by the time he could walk. It'd be brilliant."

"Boooooooooom." George made big exploidy noise and added the appropriate gesture. "If I was going to be struck down, don't you think it would have happened by now?"

"You, my darling sister, are a vision." He put his hand to his chin and stroked it, "Or perhaps a hallucination, not sure which."

He poured his own cup of tea and fetched Ginny a glass with some ice, pouring her tea on that. "Muggles love this stuff. Alicia gave us some when we were at her house one summer. Worth a shot, yeah?"

"Can't say you're glad it's not you? Gin. You..." He walked over and kissed her on the forehead, pulling up a stool so that he could sit. "You'll be a great Mum, someday. Some far in the future day. And I intend to spoil your brats rotten, teach them all sorts of tricks, and then send them home to their Mum."

"You may be right," she said, pretending to ponder. "In fact yeah... it's a miracle you haven't been."

"A hallucination," she said at once, nodding. "I apologize for not being more interesting. But at least my hair is cool."

She eyed the concoction with distrust. "Seriously? Are you sure? I... really?" She poked her finger in the top and raised and eyebrow. "Ice?"

George sat down across from her and kissed her. "I have no doubt that you will. You'll be their favorite Uncle, I'm sure. But I'll be teaching them tricks too. My goal is for them to be able to hold their own with you." She sipped at the tea. It was... odd. But it didn't make her want to vomit, so that was something. "I... don't really want to wait too terribly long I don't think. A few years, maybe."
