The weekend started on Friday with a birthday celebration; we went to Cirque du Soleil with a bunch of friends. It's an impressive show, and the kid seemed to really like it. We invited the crowd over for pizza and cake afterward; more of a traditional party but kind of late. The late evening made for a bit of cranky kid, but in general he seemed to have fun.
Late evenings on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday meant that Sunday was spent recovering. We had big plans to Get Stuff Done, which all fell by the wayside; mostly it was alternating headache day. The kid did get to spend a lazy down day, which I think was very good for him.
The good news on a personal front is that Dell stepped up. I called them and the tech said basically "wow, this has been in for repair a lot." They're sending me a refurbished replacement machine - similar spec, with any luck less of a lemon. I am still shopping for a more modern low-end laptop, for use by the family, for backup access, and for taking to conferences. Finances put that on hold, though.
We transitioned from looking for laptops to looking for cheaper housing during our brief shopping expedition on Saturday. As much as I like the house we've been in for the last decade, getting our commute shortened and getting a cheaper living situation is starting to seem like the path of sanity. Getting this house ready for sale is going to be a bitch, though.
