Lucky, lucky tourists on the downtown 2 train
Overheard this afternoon on the 2 train: A high school student loudly insisting that Africa is a country, even though her friends were telling her that it's a continent ("How can a country have other countries in it?!").
Two minutes earlier the geography-challenged commuter was saying (over and over, loudly and with details) that she washes her ass every day.
Ohhhh, teenagers. Never change. But feel free to do your Geography homework.
It's times like this, when a teenage girl in a packed subway car is loudly exclaiming to her friends that she cleans her ass with a toothbrush every day, that make me wish I had been witness to such things back when I was visiting NYC for the first time. They don't mention stuff like that in the travel guides, but they're an authentic New York experience.
