The other night bilunabirotunda and I were having dinner at Big Lantern, a great Chinese restaurant in the Mission, when it occurred to me that one could use almost anything on the dim sum menu as a pet name. Much as one can add ". . . in bed" onto the end of a fortune cookie's fortune, the excess of buns, dumplings, cakes, and puddings means I now can't help but

The Yes on 8 folks have launched their TV ads, and they're working. A new poll came out today showing 47% of voters in favor and 42% against. Simply voting No is not going to be enough to win this one - you need to donate time and money.

I really, really, love Good Eats. The one we watched last night had - in one episode, mind you - references to Monty Python, MC Hammer, and They Might Be Giants. And of course the food science is fun.
I think it started back a few years ago when my favorite shoes (the canvas Galil combat boots) went out of production. Since then I've had a deep sense of insecurity about Ovaltine. Every time I go to the store some little bit of me is scared that I'll get to the coffee/tea/chocolate milk section and find that Ovaltine has been discontinued. I've
