A few weeks ago H and I went to one of those paint-your-own-pottery places as part of a family outing. The kids - the focus of the outing - had agreat time together and I think we grownups all pretty well enjoyed ourselves. Last night I started work on the papier mache Death Star (or globe, not sure yet), and let me tell you papier mache is a mess. A good chunk of our living room is covered with newspaper and there's this sticky half-covered ball right in the middle of it all. It'll take days to dry. I recently aquired one of those huge pilates balls. The plan was (and still is) to use it as a mold for a giant paper mache globe and/or giant paper mache Death Star. Last night, however, I had the idea that I could cover it with Great Stuff (spray-on insulating foam) and sand it down to the desired shape.
