So today's rehearsal went fine. The biggest thing was that Liz had given us the wrong scene to play. It was okay though because I am only in two scenes, so I knew both well enough. This newer scene is creepier because my character is rejected by Theresa and hurt. Liz advanced the feelings in the scene by giving me more physical blocking that invades her personal space. Plus I get to hug her, which is all I wanted as my character the whole scene. He is a lonely guy and wants a hug.
Warmups went fine on our own, since the studio was too hot to rehearse in. I did two read-throughs with Lauren, one sitting next to her. I worked on finding a voice for my character, which seemed to be fine, also. I just have severe vocal problems with articulation. I mean, I stutter as a normal person, so it only makes sense that my characters would be just as inarticulate. I am going to talk to Liz about this later on, maybe even when I finish this entry. I think I might be able to work around it decent enough. But my speech slurs mostly when I am tired or have a dry mouth or am cold, so I think I can get it under control. After blocking we did another run and discussed characters. I think we should be fine. I had a problem in the first scene finding what I liked in Theresa. She is incredibly annoying in speech to me, I mean who rambles on about the words "upstate estate?"
Well I have to run to the tobacco shop before class, so I'll finish this later.
I'm in a good mood, finally.
