after all the dreaming I come home again

An introduction, I suppose? Right.

I am your typical bookworm college student. I've been a lurker for years who finally decided to just join lj already. I will probably be writing some (mostly when ignoring my homework...like I said, typical college student) but mostly I'm probably just going to comment and read and lurk. So...like I've been doing, but now I have a name!

The tag I'll be use when I do talk about myself will be "just a small town girl" because at the end of the day, that's what I am. I'm going to college in a smallish city, but the town I grew up in has a main street that's three blocks long. I counted. Actually, it's not even technically a town. It's a "census-designated place" and basically consists of a pharmacy, a few restaurants, a liquor store, a volunteer fire department, a bunch of houses, and a high school that the kids in rural parts of the county from my town and west attend. It's small and can be bit boring, and I love it fiercely.

It's...where I grew up. It's where my family lives. It has the park that was a big part of my childhood, with soccer games and birthday parties and the swing-sets and the sand that half the time is infested with some sort of bee's nest but kids play there anyway. It has my friend's houses and every year there is a parade that is short as hell but fun, and ends up back at the park for a barbecue and fair lasting all weekend, and that's how I know that summer has begun. It has two churches, one which never seems to be used but does ring the bells every week and the Methodist church, which everyone knows but almost no one attends unless there's a boy scout ceremony going on. There's forest surrounding it and one or another of the roads into town floods every years, because the river is right there. Basically, it's home.
