Funny weather or perfect storm?

Tomorrow the BOM has forecast that former Tropical Cyclone Isabelle, heading south-east, will merge with a temperate low that is heading north from the Roaring Forties. The BOM predicts widespread flooding and property damage especially in the south coastal and south-central parts of WA. Should be an exciting day. ( Read more... )

Severe Tropical Cyclone Glenda promoted to Cat 5. Maximum wind gusts to 290 km/h (155 knots). Glenda is fairly late in the NE Indian Ocean cyclone season (November-March). Late cyclones are often bad ones.

Today is the first Monday in March. So, it's Labour Day in WA. The day that we remember the improvements in pay and conditions brought about by a strong collective bargaining movement which formed around 110 years ago. It's a public holiday. Also I had a job interview. Accounts Payable. I think they really want a school leaver, but they're not allowed to say so in the ad.

So is Perth. It was 36.9 here today. Which wouldn't have been so bad, but it was cloudy as well. When it's humid I can't perspire properly.

On Saturday afternoon, we went down to Rockingham to visit some of Lee's 'lations who are over here on holiday from England.
