Mellow greetings, all. I'm new (well, been watching the community for a few weeks) and I figured I should at least introduce myself. I'm currently enrolled at a community college in Maryland, working towards my graphic design degree. I'll be finishing up there this year, but I haven't decided whether or not I'm going to continue at a 4-year college. So consider me uh, introduced.
Now the reason I wanted to post tonight - I'm terrified. When my teachers talk about their experiences within the design field I get feeling very depressed because, frankly, I haven't got any - it's all been academic work. Now I know this comes with time. But it also takes effort. I'd like to start becoming more active in design communities (whether they're local or online) and I'd just like to know about you and your early experiences as a budding designer. Did you attend AIGA functions regularly? Volunteer on local projects? Find internships?
Well, that's all. I hope I get to know you all. Seems like a cool community!
