Holy Text Overload Batman!

Nov 14, 2007 19:21

I'm reworking my resume, and what will be plainly obvious if you choose to take a look is that there's way to much text! This is a problem of mine... I can be far too verbose (can't you tell already?). What is not helping is that I have not had a real job interview since my sophomore year of college (over ten years ago). I starting temping in college, then the company I was temping for hired me, then I worked there for over ten years, working my way up the chain, then, when I left there I was stolen by a former coworker who did not even interview me-- just hired me as soon as I said "yes". So you see, I have no real perspective left on exactly what a new employer is looking to see highlighted, and I've done a great deal of things in ten years, so I just put it all there!

So, if anyone has the time and inclination to actually read through my resume and tell me, from a potential full-time employer's perspective, what can be edited out or reworded more succinctly, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm having a hard time making it any shorter. It all seems essential to me, but I know that's untrue. Obviously, I'll then edit it to apply to specific jobs I'm looking at, so consider this one the generic boilerplate resume.

I'll also be happy to hear any design critiques/suggestions you might have.
