One week down at Philmont, and completely contrary to the previous week, the past 7 days have practically flown by.
To sum things up with as few syllables as possible....I love my job and I love Philmont. At first I was skeptical about the alleged awesomeness that is Philmont according to my trusty sources, but after my first week of actually working, the realization has hit me that this place is Awesome with a capital A. I am extraordinarily excited and consider myself lucky to be able to spend my summer here, and already I'm attempting to look ahead and see if future summers are possible.
How can you not like a place where you work three hours, get two hours off, work three hours, and get evenings and weekends off (for the most part) while doing it all in such a beautiful locale. My job hardly seems like work, it rocks hardcore.
Speaking of rockin' hardcore...yesterday Scott and I had a lovely little trip to Taos, where we checked out some gear shops, a yarn shop, an art gallery, and a funkified store where I saw no less than three gifts Rachael would go bananas for. Just being able to stroll through the square, and immerse myself in the atmosphere was sweet. Then we went to a bridge and looked down over the Rio Grande...although the part we were at looked more like the Rio Piddly, and less like the Rio Grande. But the gorge it ran through was monsterous, quite intimidating really. After that, we went to Pizza Outback where I gorged myself on a the biggest slice of the best pizza this Bekah has ever seen or tasted. Oh yes. It was that good. And to top it all off...we saw The Omen, which was not as good as the original, but still not too bad. I have a biff with whoever decided that Julia Stiles needed to get an acting career, but ah well. The decapitation of poor photographer man made it for me.
(Insert mushy stuff here)
Every day spent with Scott makes my liking of him grow. I consider it a good thing, no a great thing, but it's scary nonetheless because of the way our paths are going to diverge come the end of summer, although hopefully not for forever. And as much as it may be frustrating to gossipy minds, and even though I could write a couple more pages on this topic, that's all the news that's fit to print.
In closing...I love this place and I'm so glad that I get to share it with Scott.
Over and out.
