- The Reluctant Eavesdropper-
The Christmas Dedication Gala for the Dumbledore Memorial Orphanage was in full swing. Harry Potter was refilling his glass of punch when a blur of red passed in front of him, signaling the stealthy exit of Santa and his elf helper. Unfortunately for Harry, the two passed within hearing distance.
“…in Gryffindor red, no less! There had better not be photographs.”
“You should learn not to make promises when my mouth is ‘round your…”
“Hermione Granger! There are children…”
Harry shuddered. Just because Hermione had his support in her choice of lover, did not mean he was prepared for that.

-Forgotten-
On the blessed days when she remembered parts of their life together, they made love as if they were storing it up for winter. Those days were rare, but treasured.
It hurt the most when she couldn’t remember the girls. They were grown and off on their own, but needing to remind his wife that she had two beautiful daughters took much from him.
She never panicked. Even when she was utterly confused as to why she had awakened in the arms of her aging potions instructor, she would furrow her brow and ask, “Is this a dream?”
“No, love.”

“I know what I want from you for Christmas.”
“Hmm?”
“I want you to take me to the Order’s Christmas Party. As a date.”

“Don’t be mad. You don’t have to, but it would mean a great deal to me. I would reciprocate with the most tremendous favor, of your choice! I just think…I want our friends to know about us. Will you think about it?”

“Just…just think about it for now. Goodnight. I love you.”

“Are you even…”
“Zzzzzzz”
“Oh! You infuriating man!” She rolled over in a huff. “Note to self: discuss relationship, then shag!”
