“Mum?”
“Yes, dear?”
“Why do you call it a special brew?”
“Well, because your father and I invented it, on our first Christmas together.”
“You mean like how you invent potions together?”
“Yep, just like our research. But we got to taste all of the mistakes!”
“Mum can I have some eggnog?”
“Yes, after dinner. Go wash up, please!”
Her husband, listening from the doorway, crept up behind her, sneaking his arms around her waist and peeking down into the pot on the stove.
“If I recall correctly, eggnog recipes were not the only things we experimented with that night.”

“Would you give me a hand, please?”
Severus sighed and held the roll of garland while she waved her wand and sent it floating into place along the classroom’s wall.
Pulling a cumbersome wreath out of her box, she gloated, “I told you some holiday color would brighten up this dreary old dungeon.”
“Yes dear. The decorations are very nice and…bright.”
Despite his snarky tone, she snuck a kiss and said, “Nice might not be the right word,” her brown eyes dancing with affection and playful humor, “but I really think red and green are well suited to one another.”

“Wife, if you had any concern for my well-being, you would vanish away your used tissues instead of leaving them to breed multitudes of viral germs that will undoubtedly find their way into my respiratory system.”
The pitiful creature on the couch looked up at him, red-nosed and droopy-eyed and sniffled out a desperate plea of, “I’m sick. Please be nice to me.”
He sighed. “I brewed you something that will help your sinuses. “
After sipping at the vial, Hermione grumbled, “You’d think that the wizarding world at least would have figured out a cure for the common cold.”
