Hermione stared at the mysterious footprints on her kitchen floor. "Severus?" she called out. "Come take a look at this."
Severus appeared by her side and immediately frowned. "Those are certainly Amelia's footprints, but the other set…"
Pulling out her wand, she followed the muddy footprints, Severus close behind her.
The footprints led to the loo, where Amelia was washing a dog in their tub.
"Mummy, Daddy, it's got a crippled leg. Can we keep him?"
Hermione and Severus exchanged looks. They had solved the issue of the mysterious footprints but were now pressed with an issue of another sort.
