Note: A while back I went on a date with a guy who told me that I should wear my hair up, that he thought women who did that were sexy. This was our first and only date, as I thought he was an asshole for a). pointing out how others look good when they are the opposite of my style, and b) the way he worded it insinuated that he expected me to change a few things here and there and THEN I would be just perfect for him. I absolutely KNEW he wasn't even suitable for a few dates for me. Hell, we had met that night. It was manipulative, weird, and rude. And I had hotter guys who didn't ask me to change myself spending time with me, he could suck it.
Because of this, I gave Hermione a new hairdo. I thought that the progression of her hair, that is so much a part of her identity, being changed to suit someone else is a great example of manipulation. This vamp wants her hair out of his way, so curls and wearing it down doesn't suit him. Dresses with collars and even sleeves just get in his way and annoy him. She still won't meet Severus' eyes, and now he is on high alert. He also knows that the vampire noticed his attention and interest, so he is afraid that she will pay for it later.
