It was a hot night and Grimmauld Place slept as Hermione crept down to the kitchen. She needed ice cream.
She smiled after she ate her first spoonful from her bowl. Thank goodness for cold storage spells.
“That tasted so good,” she sighed.
“Enjoying yourself, Miss Granger?” Snape said from the doorway, his voice sounding like a purr and a sneer.
“Actually, I am,” she said calmly. “Do you want some too?”
“Are you being insolent?”
“No,” she said, wanting to reach out. “Everything’s better after ice cream.”
Scorn, then something else wavering on his face, before he was gone.
