The problem with relationships is that one has to put up with certain characteristics that were it not for the other person's unyielding charm in all other ways, you would walk in the opposite direction.
For example, when Hermione sneezes, she emits a high-pitched squeak. I once tried to Accio a nonexistent mouse. Heaven forbid if she gets a cold but at least I am well stocked with flu relievers. I will admit there is a certain charm when she comes to me, eyes running, nose red, snuffling out a request for one of my potions.
But this was unacceptable.
I donned my dark green gloves and my Slytherin scarf before sitting down to read. Finally, Hermione appeared.
"Ready?" She asked. Half her face was painted gold, the other half red. Her robes changed from gold to red with each step she took. And in her hair…. I shuddered.
Hermione had tied her hair back with a long ribbon resembling a lion's tail.
She laughed at the horror etched upon my face and promptly left the room, her lion's tail swinging behind her and her voice chanting "GO GO GRYFFINDOR!" all the way down the dungeon corridor.
I felt ill.
