Quotes from book 5 OOTP
*(480-481)
Harry: "Sirius, I ... I think I'm going mad.... Back in Dumbledore's office, just before we took the Portkey... for a couple of seconds there I thought I was a snake, I felt like one-- my scar really hurt when I was looking at Dumbledore-- Sirius, I wanted to attack him--"
*(462-463)
The dream changed...
"His body felt smooth, powerful, and flexable. He was gliding between shining metal bars, across dark, cold stone... He was flat against the floor, sliding along on his belly... It was dark, yet he could see objects around him shimmering in strange, vibrant colors.
... He was turning his head.. At first glance, the corridor was drooping onto his chest, his outline gleaming in the dark...
Harry put out his tongue.... He tasted the man's scent on the air. ... He was alive but drowsing ... sitting in front a door at the end of the corridor...
Harry longed to bite the man... but he must master the impulse.... He had more important work to do...
But the man was stirring... a silvery cloak fell from his legs as he jumped to his feet; and Harry saw his vibrant, blurred outline towering above him, saw a and withdrawn from a belt.... He had no choice.... He reared high from the floor and struck once, twice, three times plunging his fangs deeply into the man's flesh, feeling his ribs splinter beneath his jaws, feeling the warm gush of blood...
*(489)
At St. Mungo's...
Fred: "Is it in the Prophet, you being attacked?
Arthur: "No, of course not, the Ministry wouldn't want everyone to know a dirty great serpent got---"
Molly: Arthur!
Arthur: "--got--er--me,"
*(491)
Molly: "Dumbledore seemed worried about Harry when I spoke to him this morning, whispered Mrs Weasley.
Moody:"Course he's worried, The boy's seeing things from inside You-Know-Who's snake... Obviously, Potter doesn't realize what that means, but if You-Know-Who's possessing him---"
*(491)
Harry and the kids use the extendable ears at the door at St Mungo's and hear:
"... they searched the whole area but they couldn't find the snake anywhere, it just seemed to have vanished after it attacked you Arthur ...But You-Know-Who can't have expected a snake to get in, can he?"
*(827)
DD is talking to Harry about his scar...
DD: "Yes, but you see-- it is necessary to start with your scar. For it became apparent, shortly after you rejoined the magical world, that I was correct, and that your scar was giving you warnings when Voldemort was close to you, or else feeling powerful emotion."
Harry: "I know."
DD: "And this ability of yours-- to detect Voldemort's presence, even when he is disguised, and to know what he is feeling when his emotions are roused-- has become more and more pronounced since Voldemort's returned to his own body and his full powers."
*(828)
"Harry remembered the feeling that a dormant snake had risen in him, ready to strike, on those occasions when he and Dumbledore made eye contact."
*(828)
DD: Sirius told me that you felt Voldemort awake inside you the very night that you had the vision of Arthur Weasley's attack. I knew at once tht my worse fears were correct: Voldemort from that point had reaslized he could use you....."
*(829)
DD: And then you saw Rookwood, who worked in the Department of Mysteries before his arrest, telling Voldemort what he had known all along--- That the prophecies held in the Ministry of Magic are heavily protected Only the people to whom they refer can lift them from the shelves without suffering madness. In this case, either Voldemort himself would have to enter theMinistry of Magic and risk revealing himself at last-- or else you would have to take it for him. ...
.................
OK so that was a lot of quotes. LOL! Let me tell you why I have these here. You probably have guessed by the title where I am going with this line of thinking. Rowling is quick to show us things then make is look in a different direction. This instance she uses the Quote by Moody on page 491 to divert us. Now almost everytime I read this before, I thought that they were talking about Voldemort possessing the snake Nagini, and that is how Harry got to be seeing from the snakes point of view (that harry went along for the ride.) Rowling was trying to point us in this direction. I don't believe that anymore. I come to realize that this was only Moody's take on the snake actually being Nagini?
I never realized that no one else referred to this particular snake as Nagini. Then look at how Dumbledore put it:
DD: "And this ability of yours-- to detect Voldemort's presence, even when he is disguised, ...:"
Dumbledore never said that Voldemort was possessing the snake. When I think of a disguise like this I think of animagus forms. Could this be it? Is Voldemort really a snake in his animagus form?
OK let's go on. see the quote on page 829 where Dumbledore recalls what Harry said.... (about Rookwood telling Voldemort):
"Only the people to whom they refer can lift them from the shelves without suffering madness. In this case, either Voldemort himself would have to enter the Ministry of Magic and risk revealing himself at last-- or else you would have to take it for him. ..."
[eek] All of this time we never saw it. Rowling snuck one in on us again. That snake that attacked Arthur was not Nagini but Voldemort himself. I believe this is the reason that no one could find the "great serpent." I wondered just how did Voldemort get a snake into the Ministry of Magic in the first place? I'm sure they did not use the pipes like the basilisk did in book 2. There would have been references to water on the floor. Then again how did it dissapear so fast without a trace? I believe that Voldemort went to try to retrieve the prophecy himself then met Arthur being in his way, He attacked Arthur then fled to a place where he could just dissapperate without a trace. Thus the quote on page 491. Harry and the kids use the extendable ears at the door at St Mungo's and hear:
"... they searched the whole area but they couldn't find the snake anywhere, it just seemed to have vanished after it attacked you Arthur ...But You-Know-Who can't have expected a snake to get in, can he?"
