Round-up

Right, as there's actual danger of someone reading this, a quick bringing up to date and then probably hollow promises to keep it so...

It might be considered odd that I've failed so miserably to keep this updated, given that I can rabbit on about the state of entertainment 'til I'm blue in the face and donkeys hind legs are dropping all over the place like RPGs in Helmond Province. I think it may have something to do with how disappointing I've found the programs I elected to pick out thus far. Viz:

Mutual Friends. So underwhelmed am I, that I still have yet to bother to watch the last two episodes. Not that it'll probably get a second series though. It's got Marc Warren in it, and there's a little-know law that states that no week may pass without Marc Warren gracing a British television channel.

Bonekickers. The mother of all disappointments. Perhaps it doesn't come as a surprise that the BBC have declined to take up the offer of a second series. No, not really. I was amused by the spin put on the decision though:

'A BBC spokesman said: "Ashley Pharoah and Matthew Graham have decided to concentrate on new projects and not write a second series of Bonekickers. We look forward to working with them in the future."'

To me that translates as:

'A BBC spokesman said: "Ashley Pharoah and Matthew Graham are trying to forget this ever happened and desperately hoping it doesn't blight the rest of their careers. In future, we will regard any idea they bring to us with intense suspicion, should they have the nerve to come back again at all..."

Lost In Austen. I enjoyed a bit more as it went on, but I think the possibilities for highlighting the insanities of our own times were regrettably neglected, which was a shame. Okay, but not one that'll linger in my memory.

So after all that, I'm probably best not to mention 'Demons' really, am I? Oh yeah, so ITV are already advertising it and it's not due until the 3rd January, and they're obviously thinking it's a Good Thing. But folks, I say unto you that's what the BBC did with Bonekickers... 'nuff said. I reserve judgement.
