State Fair

We went to the Fair today and that was good.  Weather was cool and clouded over when we got there, so i had us all in lots of layers.  vondow came straight from his Spanish exam and lucked into really good parking.  I was straight across the tracks from Dorton arena.  Anyone who's heard me say that must be equidistant from gates one or two depending on which way you go around to cross the tracks - I was wrong.  Entered through gate 1 and speed-walked to gate 8 to meet friends and handover the advance tickets I had bought.  Then back to Kiddieland by way of the Wildlife Service's sensory trailer, where Miss M got to hug a fawn (no longer animate) and Turbo first escaped the stroller, though we didn't notice how much he helped at that point..  Kids rode the carousel, jalopies, berry-g-round, up, up and away balloon and the safari track thing.  Time for food.  Miss M thoroughly enjoyed the ice cream she had been talking about since we emerged from the car while Turbo discovered fried mac and cheese, ranch dressing and refused fried veggies.  Then Daddy returned to office drudgery while Miss M had her promised fishing game.  She chose seeing a friend's ribbon in the exhibit hall next and drooled at the cake decorating winners.  Turbo was about out of gas, but Miss M was ready for animals, so off to the Ark we went.  This is where I discovered the near-failure of stroller buckles, as Turbo undid one side to twist about for a better look and almost fell out twice (thought I'd not clicked it first time).  Also, he would grab the fencing and pull the stroller out of my hands to get closer.  This is also about the point the stroller's front wheel went from having an alignment issue to spinning-optional.  We went to milk a cow and Miss M wouldn't touch udders, so I set Turbo down.  Grab and release and look for mine.  On our way to the gate, with Turbo strapped to my back in the Ergo and Miss M in the stroller, we cut through the poultry tent - another petting station.  Turbo fell to morpheus at this point.  Miss M was out about the time we reached gate two.  Walking west was the wrong choice - I'd forgottten Youth Center doesn't cross the tracks and there's a slope from there to Powell.  If only I believed the kids would stay asleep if I started doing something productive...
