ups and downs...

Felt pretty non-stop lately.
 - Overbooked but productive weekend starting Friday morning and ending Sunday evening when I spiked a fever and then started with the racing to the bathroom.  I had the thought at one point that my body was dealing with the not-fasting for the holiday (lactating) by purging itself of everything instead.
 - Monday morning D got ahold of my contacts case and we actually thought he had swallowed one for about 30 hours.  Fortunately, I found it last night and it's working just fine today.  vondow, wonderful man that he is, managed to work from home on Tuesday, so the kids didn't have two straight tv-babysitter days.
 - Today, D and I made library storytime for the first time since May and he made friends and shared toys with two other boys quite easily.
 - Our trip to AL has been canceled, which takes a lot of pressure off other scheduling things and vondow's decided to take the vacation days anyway so we can each have a day to ourselves away from the kids and also a shared day devoted to cleaning, organizing and catching up on maintenance around the house.  Definitely a good and needed plan.
   - On the bad side, D found the suspected red ant hill at the school by planting his hands in it.  Plus side is how much he impressed everyone by how fast and thoroughly he calmed down.  I've also been given a conditional ok on starting him in the youngest classroom after winter break if there's an opening and no  waitlist.  Considering he's been throwing fits about being dragged out of classrooms since last year, this is a good thing.  Also, that would put him in Sprite's class, so he'd already have a friend he's used to playing with when Mommy's gone, so even if anxiety hits, that would settle it.
No school tonight, so time to menu plan around our overflowing veggie supply.  I don't think I'm cancelling the hold from our trip on the papaspuds box next week.  Between them 'upsizing' our portions randomly last week and the harvest from neighbor's yard (part of pet-sitting duty/payment) we have more than we can possible keep up with after my non-eating/cooking for so long.

Any recipe ideas for Tatsoi or Okra?  I'm thinking wilted and broiled, respectively, based on quick searches, but haven't worked with them before.

ETA:  forgot that I bit my tongue in my sleep last night.  Seemed ok earlier, but constant sting now, after I licked lemon juice off my finger.  Also, between vondow being late home and having D&D tonight and the kids' lack of interest in new foods, I think it's time for bubble bath then grilled cheese and bed.  Especially since M's attitude is snapping my patience.
