Isn't it? :)

I've even had at least two poeple who are decidedly unattracted to the whole fantasy genre agree that it's gorgeously done.

Somehow I never knew about this book, until relatovely recently, when Amy found it and told me about it (and proceeded to buy copies for the both of us! :D).

Mind you, I was only 6 when the film came out (we saw it at the cinema, I'm pretty sure) and even if I had been aware of the existence of the book, it would have been filed under Can't Afford anyway.

But I have it now, oh yes!
MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Yeah, as I said, I love them both but The Dark Crystal certainly had a greater impact on me. It was a much more serious film than Labyrinth was (not that there's anything wrong with muppet style fun, though I swear the David Bowie pants thing has scarred me for life! :O).

I think I know the Henson TV series you're talking about but I can't remember the name of it either!

Beautiful book. My oldest son loved DC ever since he was 7. He would show it to his friends and they would say it was boring. He's 19 now and still hasn't found anyone outside of our family who likes it.

Two years ago I gave my youngest son "Jim Henson's The Storyteller" - a retelling of world fables (I believe peruse is thinking of Hans the Hedgehog), and that is his favorite DVD now.

Me, I really love the "Labyrinth", but have yet to meet a woman who can't get past Bowie's pants. I tend to work movie quotes into everyday life (Labyrinth leads followed by Galaxy Quest} and the "You have no power over me" line has reduced many stressful situations.

Hoping that someday they release "The Frog Prince" a TV special from about 30 years ago on DVD.

Jim Henson's The Storyteller! Of course!

Thank you, you saved me a lot of time searching on the internet for it! (actually, it could have been done with a quick trip to Wikipedia but still...!)

Yeah, Amy and I use the "You have no power over me" line quite a bit - that and The Princess Bride lines. :D
(which reminds me, must get a copy of that, as well)

As I said, she's a big fan of the pants but I just find them...disturbing!
His cloak, on the other hand...pure cool. :DDD

The book is gorgeous. I love seeing the design art for most movies as in many cases it's superior to what actually hits the screen. In this case, though, it adds an extra dimension.

Exactly.

And I love seeing some of the earlier sketches Froud did, before settling on what the final characters would look like.
