So look at me go... two new posts in one day! It is amazing! Alrighty this one will make eveyone almost up to date for the month of April minus one or two special days. Well I guess really all things April will only include two important things as the others are large enough to have their own updates! So this is an Easter/Cookies update!
Easter
These are the Easter trees. I have no idea where the tradition comes from but everyone has one in their house and then people do them outside as well. I thought they were really pretty. In the pic above you can see my påskägg (easter egg) tucked in the tree. They get hidden and then the kids get to search for them. Wille found mine first so he helped me to find it!
Some of my friends met up along the canal in the afternoon and we ate all of our Easter goodies. The pic above is what was left over of the candy after we ate lots of it. That one shows what the eggs look like better they are bigger than your fist and sort of make of like papermache but you buy them in the store. Then the other pic is some of my friends sitting along the canal.
Cookies!
So these are the first cookies that I made in April. Jan's Chocolate Chip Cookies : ) I think they turned out really good and they tasted wonderful!! I think I should have brought chocolate chips from home because they don't have them here and I only had two packages brought for me...and now I only have one left! So sad : (
Then the next cookies I made were with Amy and Diana. We made sugar cookies so that Amy could decorate them with her host brother (and so we could do some too :) ). We had quite a fun time making random Easter shapes. We didn't have any cookie cutters so we made all sorts of creative things. They turned out really good minus the first batch being a bit browner than desired. But as Amy says...'Sugar cookies are very forgiving' so it all worked out rather well.
The following day we decorated the cookies at my house. Phil took this picture while Amy, Diana, Me and Bridget are doing the decorating. We had a fun time with the icing and making interesting creations out of our cookie shapes. Look aren't they pretty though? And they tasted really good too!
So this is my last cookie making day for April. I honestly made cookies everyday for almost 5 days when I got back from my trip. It was some major cookie time! This time all of my friends from my class came over and I taught Rica (above) how to make peanutbutter cookies. Afterwards we looked at all the pictures from my trips. Twas quite a lovely day.
So April = Easter and Cookies...fun fun fun!
