Wow so it has been a month since I updated my Live Journal...they have even changed the livejournal site since I was on it last...I guess stuff happens in a month. It is interesting that I have not updated recently because I have not been overly busy nor do I have a lack of computer access as I have a computer in my room now. Oh well...here is an update on three of my latest Rotary outings. I will update a bunch more this coming week because I have no school and lots of free time :)
So...Rotary Outing #1: The Nordisk Museum and riding the Djurgården Ferry.
A couple weekends ago I was taken to the Nordisk Museum by one of the rotarians from my club. The Nordisk Museum is as you can guess a musem about nordic history. It is a very interesting museum and had many really good displays and exhibits. That is the museum above in case you are wondering.
In one of exhibits was on clothes in all of the different ages and although they were very interesting my favorite part of that exhibit was this painting. I just thought it was quite funny.
Another interesting exhibit was on the Systemet...which is the name for the goverment run liquor stores. It talked all about the history of the systemet and had lots of really interesting opinons and views. The picture above is from the exhibit where people could leave their own thoughts in response to the question 'How should we sell alcohol?' and of course about the systemet. It was quite interesting to read what people wrote because you have people from all over the world that had written their thoughts. The man in the picture is Lars Brunnberg, the rotarian that took me to the museum.
After the museum we took a ride on the Djurgården Ferry from Djurgården, which is the island where the Nordisk Museum is, to Slussen one of the subway stations. It was my first time going on this ferry so it was fun. We also had really wonderful weather that day so it was great weather for going by ferry. Below is a picture of one of the ferrys and then me on the ferry with some of Stockholms harbour in the background.
Rotary Outing #2: Golf Simulator...why can't it simulate me being good at golf? hehehe
Now this was interesting...as I am sure most of you know...I am not good at golf :) However it was really fun to try this out. Phil, a rotarian and I went to this golf facility here in Åkersberga where they have this golf simulator. Basically what happened was you watched this big TV and then golfed into the TV. It is really hard to explain and even harder to do! I guess that the screen had sensors that worked with the computer program to simultate the distance of your shot, etc. Then it also had like different little areas that you had to have your ball on for different areas of the course like sand or the rough etc. Here are some pictures of us 'golfing'...
So the first one is me and the second one is Phil. On man...how bad was I at that...but it was defiently fun to try none the less. However I am even less inspired to take up the game of golf! I think I will leave it to others who have more patience with that little white ball than I do!
And finally...Rotary Outing #3: LumberJill Grace!
Haha yes that is right 'LumberJill' not 'LumberJack'. On Saturday one of the rotarians from my club called my house...and I was sleeping hehe...and anyways I was invited to come and spend the day with his wife, kids and grandkids. And I also 'got' to help clear some trees which was the project for the day. Check this out...they let me use the chain saw!!! Honeslty...Rotary won't let you drive or go places by yourself but you can definetly use a chain saw...hehe ahh so funny.
And then afterwards I got to play with one of the grandkids...she was super cute. I got to be like a temorary babysitter...this picture is of me feeding Agnes potatoes...hehe. Look at her blue eyes! So pretty!
After we were done with the trees we came in and had a sort of relaxing afternoon while Svens (rotarian) kids made supper because it was their mom and brothers birthdays so they were all together to celebrate. I stayed for most of supper before I had to leave. And it was really cool to see how another family celebrates and especially a family with little kids and adults. It reminded me of how it would be at home with my big family...like Chirstmas' at Oma and Opas and such.
Anyhoos must be off! Going to make some peanut butter cookies! Yummy I love peanut butter!
