singles awareness day

yesss, valentines day, awesome. how romantic. kage just called it singles awareness day, which i think is probably a better name.

well, i'm still in atlanta. i know this incessant updating is probably getting annoying (why did i say that? this is my journal, not yours), but there is really nothing to do in a hotel room at night with bad cable and a sleeping abigail. oh yeah, i guess i could sleep. except i figured out that my ethernet cord could reach nicely from the plug to my bed, so now i have reached a new high of laziness by combining sleep WITH computer usage. i am the shit. so now i am lying in my bed and while i could easily just close my eyes and drift off to sleep, instead i am doing whatever i can think of to do on this little distraction machine in front of me. i feel like i'm a really contradictory person. remind me to tell you about some other contradictions later, but the pertinent one here is that i love sleep so incredibly much, like really think that it is one of the most enjoyable things ever... but it always seems to be the first thing i will sacrifice. if i have a choice to make on what to do with my life, i will pretty much choose anything at the expense of sleep. it's so weird.

why am i lately feeling really inferior to people in the intelligence department? i mean i have a long and rich history of feeling inferior to many different people in many different ways, but i usually feel like i can hold my own where brains are concerned. not that i am this super smart genius or anything, just that i am smart enough to know what is going on. but recently i have started feeling like an idiot around people. actually no, that is not true. i guess its not really that i feel like an idiot. i just feel really superficial and ignorant and uninformed. like everyone around me is thinking and writing and talking about real issues and real feelings and deep, important stuff, and i am just stuck thinking about unimportant, superficial, everyday crap. i feel like there is so much i don't know and so much that i don't even care about that i really wish i did. for instance, people will go to the book store to pick up a sylvia plath book or something and read it solely for enjoyment's sake. what? i could never do that, and i feel kind of shitty about it. sylvia plath could probably hold my attention for like .03 seconds. why can't i be cultured and enjoy that kind of thing? i feel like i've been ruined by modern society or something.

tonight we went to abigail's house (did i tell you she is from marietta? probably) for some home cooked dinner. it was like... SOOO GOOD! 500 different kinds of pasta, salad, fruit, bread, chips, salsa, dip, petit fours, cake... oh dear. and all for free. i love her parents too... her mom is so sweet and her dad is really nice too.
AND HIS NAME IS CLEGHORN DUPREE PENN.
WHAT?
WHAT?!?
sweetest name ever in life.
also she has two precious dogs, named george and gracie. funny because there is a george and a grace (who the hell is this grace girl?) on our diving team. george is a beagle, and he peed on me but i didn't care since he was soooo cute. gracie looks just like a black lab except is TINY! tinier than george even. after dinner we watched some celebrity spelling bee (WHAT?). i am happy to report that there is a box of petit fours and cookies sitting on the desk across from my bed right now. go on witcho bad self, abigail.

tomorrow is a cool day because it is the last day i will be diving this whole school year. i have been excited for it because i won't cry and get upset and scared on a weekly basis (ok i probably will, but at least this cause will be eliminated), i'll have a lot more time for homework (by homework i mean laying around) and my hair might be able to be restored to some semblance of health. but now that i'm thinking about it, i'm kind of sad. i love my coach and most of my team. and it makes me feel like a cool effective athletic person to be doing a sport, even though the reality of the situation is that it doesn't do much for my physical fitness.. obviously. so yeah, i will miss it. and i will definitely do it next year.

you know what are good? bad movies. i like bad movies a LOT. like bad romantic comedies and stuff like that. and lifetime originals. ohhh yeah. when kate reads this entry she is going to think it sounds famililar because i am writing it as im talking to her and its kind of going along with the course of our conversation.

so to carry on in that vein, if you dont know homestar runner you don't know shit. do yourself a favor and check this out. it is so very funny it hurts inside. teen girl squad is a personal favorite.

i say "like" WAY too much. in person and online. i suck.

i wish i was a surfer chick. hot.
