Rachel Alexandra wins the 134th running of the Preakness. The first filly to win in 85 years! Mine That Bird gave a heroic performance, but couldn't quite catch her. I found this on one of my favorite horse blogs, Equine Ink. I've never heard of this fellow before, but I sure would love to see his show live.

I didn't actually see the race, because I had a lesson, but I came home and looked for it online without knowing what had happened.

I wanted to post this little tribute vid someone made -- it does NOT show the Derby, just her earlier races, where you can see what a spectacular "little" filly she was.

Got woken up at 5 am on Tuesday by the dulcet sounds of our aging Golden Retriever getting violently ill...a lot...both ends. It's (sadly) not that unusual for him to wake us up being sick. We try to keep a close eye on him, but he'll eat literally *anything* (for example, he chews on bricks, and swallows bits) and some times he manages to ingest ( Read more... )
