*waves arms around* I adore this and it amuses me, and I actually know why. I adore it because of the closeness between the characters, how tight their bonds are, and I'm amused.... well, by pretty much the same thing, I suppose.

I like that Lestrade knows, despite the risks, and that he knows Holmes knows. I love his thoughts about what would happen if Clarkey knew he knew, and the feeling of eyerolling exasperation (and maybe a bit of fondness) that we get from it.

Hopkins is such a fanboy, it's ridiculous. Sometimes the overly enthusiastic can be annoying, so I understand why they don't like him. His brush-off when asked to get Watson bugs me, but he's considered with Holmes. But, to me, Watson is kind of implied when it comes to Holmes, so that's probably why it bugs me.

Lestrade praying that Clarkey wouldn't be there is hilarious. I can just picture him following behind, and wanting to shut his eyes, thinking 'oh, god'. I think the situation of one person being stuck watch another blunder into something they really shouldn't is a bit of a popular one, but it's very amusing.

Doctor Watson as the spiffing image of British Perfection is love. It's just... yes.

The extent Hopkins is willing to go to in order to flatter Holmes is humorous and almost... not cringe-worthy, but you're kind of embarrassed on their behalf, you know? It's kind of this reaction of covering your face and shaking your head. You're amused, but... *shrugs*

Moving on! Clarkey! when he came in, I couldn't help but grin because you know he's jealous about the simpering. Oh, you know it and it's delicious. I love watching the way they interacted, how all of them interacted. I loved Clarkey's tension, Holmes' warning, Lestrade and Watson's shared look of disbelief, and the fact that all of this was going on and Hopkins never even noticed.

I'm not sure if this is supposed to be as hilarious as it is in my head, but I love it. While I like Holmes' subtle hinting and Clarkey's not-so-subtle reaction, I adore Hopkins' obliviousness to what he's saying and what it sounds like. However, the best part of this... part, is the sense of 'oh my god, can you believe this shit?" I get from Watson and Lestrade. Because all of them are in on it, but they're the observers, and it's really kind of awesome.

Clarkey snapping is made of win. Him kicking Hopkins out and kind of just going 'oh, hell no' is excellent. I adore how protective/possessive he is. and he slammed the door! I love this. Lestrade may have clapped, but my first went in the air. I cannot help but celebrate Clarkey, and I adore the idea of Lestrade and Watson giving him a standing ovation for his actions.

But you know what's even better than Clarkey taking action and being applauded? HIM GOING ALL MODEST/EMBARRASSED/ETC ABOUT IT. He's just so... tentative? I love how mild he suddenly seems and that he apologizes about it. That is so damn adorable and absolutely my favorite part. Not that I don't like everything after Hopkins bursting in, but that's not the point. The point is, I like Clarkey's actions and how close they all are, as I said in the beginning.

Also? HOLMES CALLED HIM DEAR. Yes, I see that. You did that on purpose, Mr. Holmes, yes, you did. I might have giggled a bit at the bit about Holmes training them, but really, how can I not? I love the idea of those three men standing apart from everyone else because Sherlock Holmes chose them. Out of all the people in the world, he chose them, and there's a reason for it.

Another thing I love is that Watson and Lestrade turn to Clarkey as the Holmes expert, even though Watson already knows what he has to say. I love the idea of the both of them knowing Holmes so well, all of them having this understanding, but falling back and making Clarkey like the official speaker of something. They're like the men of Sherlock Holmes. They know him, he's let them in, they're special. I cannot express how much I love that they're like a little group.

Considering I think I read the Gossip Girl - no, Mean Girls, or something - version of this, I'm almost tempted to call them a clique, but I won't. Although I like the idea. And now, I'm going to shut up.

I love and adore it, but you got that part already, didn't you?
