Annie was pleased as punch to be on her first real job since beginning her internship at the Daily Prophet back in late June. For over two months, she'd done little more than fetch coffee and tea, and tidy the office of her supervisor. There was that one day that he took off early to see a Quidditch game with his son, and Annie was actually allowed to proof a stack of articles he left behind.
Of course, none of them wound up being used... But she'd gotten to do some real reporter-type work!
Now, she was standing outside the Leaky Cauldron with a small notepad in her hand, looking around thoughtfully. She wasn't actually supposed to write an article; the Boss Man told her that it was a 'scouting' assignment, and she was to take notes on passersby and the attention they paid to their surroundings. More particularly, the Leaky Cauldron. If she could document enough curiosity and interest, then one of the veteran reporters would be sent to cover a story on how the Ministry needed to investigate things.
However, she couldn't help herself. She was taking notes and yet writing a little article right along with it.
Charing Cross Road looks inconspicuous enough to the common Muggle, but what if they were to take a deeper look at the shops and pubs along its stretch?...
