In all honesty, Ashleigh wouldn't have minded the train ride. It wouldn't brought back old memories. Memories of things she definitely could do in her current swollen condition. If she didn't get the joy of feeling their child move in her stomach, she could have easily hated getting fat.

She'd happily returned the soft kiss, wrapping her arms around him and pulling him as closely as she could get him.

When they disapparated, she'd happily laced her fingers with his. "I'm fine," she answered. "Wonderful, even. Really looking forward to the new year." The truth... it had been months since she'd lied to him. Months.

Of course, he knew that she was really looking forward to the coming school year, she'd been working on lessons for the last month. He and Mable hadn't really let her do much else around the house and they absolutely couldn't do that for her.

"Are you ready to be back at the castle?"

Ed didn't think of her as fat at all. If you asked him, she had never looked more beautiful. Of course, he was probably biased. Just a bit. Or, maybe a whole lot.

He nodded as she spoke, choosing to believe her for now. She didn't look overtired or stressed at the moment, so she was probably being truthful with him, he decided.

"It'll be nice getting back to work," he admitted. He'd had some work to do over the summer, of course, but it wasn't the same, "though I must admit that it's been nice spending the summer with you, getting ready for our baby."

Another brief kiss and he tugged her closer, slipping his arm around her as they started to walk through the village, heading for the path that would lead them back to Hogwarts.

Oh, Ashleigh was definitely fat. She had the stretch marks to prove it. It was nice that he didn't think so, though. She didn't ever want him to think that she was unattractive.

It was really good that he believed her because she was telling the truth. She hadn't slept as soundly as she would've liked but it was excitement that had kept her awake and that, of course, meant that she was still excited.

As always, she happily returned each of his kisses, smiling almost like a school girl when their lips parted again.

"It's really convenient that you work at the castle with me. I think that I'd go nuts if we had to be apart for most of the year."

She leaned into his side as they walked, occasionally looking up from her feet to give him a bright smile.

Yeah, nothing had changed over the summer or through this pregnancy. Ashleigh was still very much in love with her husband.

That worked out nicely, since Ed was very much in love with her, too. More so than he'd been when they first got married, if that was possible.

"Mmmm, yes," he murmured, his lips hovering just barely above hers. "I couldn't stay away from you so long," he told her, brushing his lips lightly over hers again before pulling her back into his side and resuming their walk.

Having her away from him? Definitely wasn't an option. Especially when she was carrying their child. Ed wouldn't dream of missing a second of that.

Ashleigh wouldn't have been a teacher at Hogwarts if she would have had to spend weeks upon weeks without her husband. Honestly, she couldn't sleep one single night without him... weeks simply weren't doable.

"I couldn't... you know I couldn't... I'd never sleep."

Her arm wound his lower back and she grinned up at him. "We're going to have to get our room ready for the baby," she announced. "I know we have a bit but we should be prepared, you know, just in case."

These days, everything was about being prepared. She simply couldn't think about anything else.

Ed smiled at his wife, thinking she was completely adorable right now. "I guess it's good this all worked out so well, then, isn't it?" he grinned, tightening his arm around her a bit.

"We will, love, we will," he assured her, letting out a soft chuckle when she started fretting about getting ready for the baby again. "We've already bought out the shops and we'll get Maible to help us set things up, yeah?" He chuckled again and pressed a loving kiss on her head.
