Arianna had been humming a little tune to herself as she headed down the hallway toward her husband's study; she'd heard it earlier that morning when walking through a shop in Diagon Alley, and it had been stuck in her head ever since.

It wasn't too terrible, either. She'd have to find out more about it.

On a mission for a bit of wax to seal a letter to her brother, she rounded the corner and strode into the office-like room and halted.

"William," she said quietly, putting on a somewhat awkward smile. "I apologize for interrupting," she added quickly, sidestepping to a large desk. "I wasn't aware you were in here."

She inwardly cringed; when would she stop feeling the need to treat her husband like an acquaintance?

"Not at all," William smiled as he set down his book. It wasn't exactly an unwelcome interruption, after all, and they were married now. This house was hers as much as it was his, even if this was pretty much his study.

"Would you like to sit?" he offered, moving over slightly to make room, in case she did want to sit down. His tone was a bit formal, but that was just him really. He didn't mean to sound as cold as he probably came across.

Arianna stalled for a moment, standing in the doorway and glancing around the room. She was still not at ease in this lovely house, and continuously chided herself with manners that should have come naturally.

"If it's all right," she replied, nodding once before stepping forward and then sinking down slowly onto the sofa. She cast him an unsure smile, then fiddled with the letter in her hands.

"I'd been trying to finish this letter all day," she told him, looking down at it warmly. "I suppose I was so thrilled when I signed my name that I wanted wax as soon as possible."

She felt like she was babbling. Was she babbling?! It was highly likely.

"Of course it is." He smiled, almost warmly, not understanding why she seemed so ill at ease with him. He tried his best to be good to her, treat her well. He supposed the arrangement still took some getting used to, though.

He did glance curiously at the parchment in her hands, nodding as she explained before he could ask about it. "There's wax i the middle drawer of my desk," he offered helpfully. "You're welcome to it."

He fell silent, then, searching for something to help put the girl at ease. They were married, they should be able to have a not awkward conversation, even if there wasn't the traditional love between them. It was going to be a long and boring marriage if they didn't figure out how to relate to one another better.
