Roger Ebert gave "You Again" two thumbs down. Aww, poor Kbell and others. Her last few movies have been misses. Hopefully "Scream 4" doesn’t follow that pattern and she can turn it around since she’s sort of amazing to have onscreen.
Maybe I'll have quotes from the eps. be links inside the cut. I'll try it out.
Craig Ferguson
"You smell like Santa."
Entertaining but I was never a fan of Patricia Heaton or Adam Brody.
"Undercovers" 1x01
"Nice meeting you again."
Um, longest wait until the title card ever. They were getting ready to break into a bank in Madrid when it came up. Spy show, lens flares, and large over-arcing plot involving complex and possibly supernatural plot points (it may not seem like it now but it never does at first)? Welcome back to making spy television shows, J.J. Abrams. As a fan of many J.J. Abrams’ projects including "Lost," "Fringe," "Star Trek," and in this case most importantly "Alias" it’s nice to see this show. It’s pretty. The actors are pretty, the outfits are pretty. The locations are pretty. Samantha was all Buffy at the end with the blowing up the car. It’s fun enough and had a lot of moments that works. I like their transitions and it’s a bunch of spy funs. I’m willing to watch. But where was Greg Grunberg? Isn’t he in everything J.J.?
"Better With You" 1x01
"She just has sad eyes."
It has a laugh track. Sometimes you can ignore laugh tracks and move on but sometimes they stick out, especially if the jokes are not funny. Laugh tracks can be unoffensive but it seems like laugh tracks are for when audiences are smart enough to laugh on their own. Though if you watch a bunch of shows with laugh tracks you might be expecting the laugh track when it’s not there in other shows. The show was funny and people were likable.
"Hellcats" 1x03
"Back off. This is my street corner."
"Nerds rule the Earth."
Marti is a street dancer. That just sounds dirty. Not a big fan of the show though it does have things I like. Leading ladies, non-offensive female friendships, fast reveals, friends rallying together, fighting intercut with something else, bonding, drama. Though I need to wonder if Alice was going to get the drugs and walk off with the guy who provided them why did she have to get the drugs in front of 8 million people? And of course just happening to walk outside and the whole cheerleading unit gets into street dancing. Savannah escaped getting arrested. Vanessa admitted there was no reason to keep her old relationship a secret besides it was embarrassing. Lewis was a football guy turned cheerleader under duress. He is the successful Finn Hudson! I like the Kobayashi Maru reference. I feel like some of the lines are not supposed to be delivered the way the way they were and sometimes that works and at times it doesn’t.
"Modern Family" 2x01
"I love you when you’re human."
I know "Modern Family" is a totally hilarious show but it one of those where I only remember to catch it sometimes. Crazy I know. Some shows I really like I have that problem with. That’s why I love renting the dvds for shows. Then I can catch up all at once when I fall behind. Phil’s pneumonic devices are really impressive given that they work. Mitchell built sets for plays! Ha! It was a nice episode of change. There was the grab for the nostalgia where they ended up making more memories and Luke keeping his old bottle of sunshine. There was the guys building stuff together and Mitchell proving then disproving himself for the sake of making memories. Gloria dealing with Manny growing up. All funny and touching.
Tomorrow at 8:00: The Big Bang Theory, Community and The Vampire Diaries are all at the same time.
Tomorrow at 9:00: Grey’s Anatomy, The Office/Outsourced, Fringe and Nikita are all at the same time.
I think I will watch Community and TVD at 8 and Grey’s and Nikita at 9 because the other shows I can watch with others at a later date. These four shows I only watch. I might watch "Lone Star" and "Detroit 1-8-7" anyway because I heard good things.
