9-20 blog

I saw Easy A. I loved it. I am already an Emma Stone fan and a fan of others in the movie but it was just a really good watch. I enjoyed Emma Stone’s character Olive and her humor, intelligence and compromised morality. You probably know from the trailer that Dan Byrd was in it a.k.a. Luke Campbell from "Heroes" and Kirk from "Greek" and Travis Cobb from "Cougar Town." These are the roles I know him the most for. I always thought he was a decent enough actor from the younger set but this is the first time I’ve liked a character he’s played. He was a great snarky little gay kid a.k.a Brandon. Funny performances if the characterizations weren’t a little over the top for comedic effect. Some movie references, literary references and some references just to the world in general with great lines with its own.

Sample dialogue from the movie that may be paraphrased. I saw it yesterday.

From a teacher about a student: "I don’t know what it is about Nina. I hate her?"

While Olive and Brandon are simulating their sex scene, Brandon talks about the sex smell before getting grief from Olive. Brandon: "It actually doesn’t smell that bad."

Olive’s dad to her black brother after he says that he’s adopted, "What? Who told you?"

Won’t reveal who said this one. "Not the sharpest Christian in the Bible."

I used to watch "Chuck" but lost touch with it. My relationship with it continues through the dvds. I’ll watch this season when it’s over too. I keep forgetting to watch "The Big C." I might sacrifice "Weeds" as well.

"How I Met Your Mother" 6x01

So, Robin was a little over the top but it just goes toward her suffering I guess. This is going to be an arc for her I think so we’ll see where that all goes. Good on Lily and Marshall for giving us a reason to love them together again even if I wasn’t feeling a lot of the jokes this episode. It was nice that they kept up the bad relationship with the Erikson’s over the phone going. Haha. Ted and Barney were fine I suppose. It was nice they seem to be setting up arcs right here and nice Barney isn’t completely gone. We also got a nice hint about the mother, Ted meets her at a wedding. Cindy’s? Haha. Wow, she just goes on a date with a girl and is married with a kid. Seems that stereotype is lasting.

"Mike and Molly" 1x01

I like all the actors on the show from other things. The leads are charming. Some of the jokes worked. Not instantly in love with it.

"The Event" 1x01

So, the plane got eaten by something to save some people in a demonstration or something? People got saved by other people or beings. I wasn’t really into the event until the last two minutes. I don’t know how long I’m going to hang in there.

"Gossip Girl" 1x02

"It takes more than even you to destroy Blair Waldorf."

It was cool. I like Juliet enough I guess but maybe wouldn’t if KC wasn’t playing her. I’m weirdly interested in who is pulling the strings for her. I liked the Blair/Chuck scene though I’ve never been a fan of the couple because I read the books and could never get over Chuck’s rapey behavior. The reason I watch and a lot of the time the only thing I like is the Blair/Serena friendship (subtext romance). At least Blair ended well with her prince. She has always been my favorite character of the show. I don’t know why but I love mean, high maintenance, crazy and complex tv girls. It’s a flaw. Also, Georgina is on a spa weekend? I thought she was gone for good. Hmm... And of course Dan isn’t the baby daddy. Ha! I can see why bring Chuck back for the sake of the show. But would he have been a good guy as Henry Prince or just gotten back to his old ways eventually? I like his hair. I do like the lack of Jenny.

"Castle" 3x01

I heart Nathan Fillion in like everything I see him in. Michael Rady is in this episode. Was not a fan of his character in "Melrose Place" but he was cool in other things like "Greek" but just about everyone is cool on that show. I’m not a fan of the mysterious open where it looks like the main characters are against each other when really they’re not but it’s enough that you wonder how things actually play out because you know they’re not shooting at each other. A little contrived but it was nice to see the group get back together.

"Hawaii Five-O" 1x01

"I think we need a name... like something to call ourselves."

Kinda cheesy and of course I remake but I liked the episode. I love all the actors from other things. Even the guest actors were decent. I mean, it’s Spike, come on. I actually think Masi Oka of "Heroes" fame is a recurring character. I’ll tune in some more. See what it’s like when the whole episode hasn’t been spoiled in the promos and how everything develops. I like to give a show at least three eps.

"Weeds" 6x05

Silas: "That’s it. You’re going down."

Shane: "Is that what the old man said?"

Loved the show commenting on how the boys don’t even look related. Haha. And Doug got saved by God. Another Ha moment. I feel for Silas but how the hell did he plan to stay in college without money? I mean he was getting away with it so far but when it comes to like eating and stuff? Everything is about to come down on their heads and I love it. Drama drama drama.

Glee comes back tomorrow! Debating watching Detroit 1-8-7. Should I?
