Hillary Clinton fanned the flames of publicity on Ann Coulter's new book, "Godless: The Church of Liberalism," calling it a vicious attack on 9/11 victims and suggesting that "Heartless" would have been a more appropriate title. In the book, Ms. Coulter accuses those victims who pushed the Bush White House to create a commission to investigate the government's failures before the 9/11 attacks of enjoying their new-found fame, further stating, "How do we know their husbands weren't planning to divorce these harpies? Now that their shelf life is dwindling, they better hurry up and appear in Playboy."
Typical shock-me, shock-me ranting from Ms. Coulter. And I suppose it's predictable that Hillary would get up on her soap box - after all, she's in a pretty safe venue, surrounded by liberal New Yorkers and even some republicans who said that Ann crossed the line. But am I the only one who wishes she would quit playing it safe? If she's going to bother speaking up, perhaps she might want to comment on the legitimacy of the entire premise of the book: that Liberalism is a religion and that its cosmology - namely, the "Liberal Creation Myth" or Theory of Evolution, as most of us know it, is bullshit. Excuse me? Did we not lay this subject to rest in December with the PA ruling against the Dover Area School Board that wanted to teach Creationism in the classroom? Being from the midwest, I know as well as anyone that the red states are full of Christian yahoos, but come on! Why isn't the rest of the country - and its politicians -dismissing this propaganda? Oh, that's right, they don't want to lose their voter base by telling them that THEY ARE ALL A BUNCH OF IDIOTS FOR BELIEVING IN INTELLIGENT DESIGN!
For those of you who enjoy getting all riled up over the ignorance and insensitivity of Coulter's bravado, here are some of her more asinine statements, as quoted by The Washington Monthly Online:
