Going under the knife today...

I am trying very hard not to get nervous about this. I have been anesthetized on several occasions, and it sucks every time. Nausea, disorientation and headaches are inevitable, but the wild card is how much the surgery will hurt and how swollen I will be. It really seems like there is no way of knowing, because every person I know who has had their wisdom teeth extracted describes it differently..."My cheeks swelled up like balloons and I was really sore for a week"..."I just chilled and stared at the tv and slept for a day or two"..."I was vomiting for two days straight, and my entire face was bruised, as if I'd been beaten." How is one to prepare oneself for a procedure whose results range from mild discomfort to sheer agony?
