I am given to understand that the purpose is to enable the budding of young love in as awkward a means as possible, the dress calls for ill-fitting rented suits, and the only requirements are that you be overly hormonal and incapable of dealing with the opposite sex in any suitable way.

... so simply put, the point of this prom is to make yourself look like a fool in both appearance and presentation of yourself along with being in a sexualized manner towards the opposite gender but do nothing about it.

A fool's day. I suppose people would find any reason to celebrate for something. It actually sounds so ridiculous that I can't help but be curious about it.

For what it may be worth, it appears the residents of this town take whatever excuse they can get to, ah, improve morale, if only temporarily. The town has been said to be fond of stomping all over it.

If that were the case, they honestly could do something that doesn't involve making yourself seem like an incompetent idiot to the opposite gender and make it a more formal event as in like a ball or... some other form of gathering.

And the man addressed himself as Silence... a fitting name for a mute Mystic.
