Today I am grateful for:

Slightly above freezing today, which is surprising because last night was fairly cold and windy.

The farrier came today to do the horses/ponies at home. She is always very kind and patient with my motley little crew. Hollywood has a difficult time getting her feet done, because of her arthritis. If you lift one foot for a while, it is hard for her to hold her weight on the others, especially if the foot you pick up is one the "good" legs. The farrier does her best to be fast, and we help Hollywood by letting her rest the foot that needs work on a low block instead of picking it up. The farrier can trim the hoof by putting the edge of the hoof over the edge of the block, and shifting it as needed.

The ponies were pretty good. Dandy moved around a bit, but Ursula was very calm.

Not so grateful: My sister P, who you don't hear about much because I don't talk to her much, and I even un-followed her on Facebook but sometimes she still comments on posts where we interact. One of my nephews seems to be supportive of the convoys here, and for the most part I avoided even commenting because it always ends up being a big deal. Well, I failed and I commented, and my sister P jumped in and started defending the convoy, even though she also said (after I pointed out things like Nazi involvement, guns, threats issued to tow truck drivers, illegal blocking of highways that resulted in ambulances being critically delayed and so on) that she DIDN'T support the convoys, just the stuff about no vaccines and Trudeau needing to be removed from office. So pretty much she supports the convoy.

It drives me crazy how every time Trudeau does something, or doesn't do something, people run around screaming about their rights, or how he's destroying our country, and they want him out of office. Presumably so that THEIR party will be able to take over.

These people freak out about the health mandates, saying they just want to end all of them so we can "go back to living our lives". Except that of course, there will be those that WON't be able to go on living their lives.

So, I did one of the few things I CAN do right now. I got my third vaccine. Yes, I might still get sick, but I am decreasing the odds of it being serious or life-threatening. With fewer people willing to wear masks in public even though THOSE mandates haven't ended, and probably a lot of people will now refuse any further vaccines if they had any in the first place, all I can do now is protect myself. I feel great sadness for those with compromised immune systems who will now have to make a lot of choices about their own safety, since more and more people are choosing not to act in ways that would protect others.

I did some recreational shopping at a nice consignment clothing store, and found a "key wardrobe piece" that I have been looking for. When I did some outfit planning a while ago, I felt that a lot of my cute summery dresses that I don't wear a lot because they have only thin straps and feel a little naked on top would be worn more if I had a denim or denim blue shirt in a summer weight to go over them. The denim shirts I had were ENORMOUS and didn't look right with the dresses. I FOUND ONE today that should work with multiple dresses! It is the right fit so it doesn't look like I'm wearing a tent and trying to hide under it, but will give me coverage on top.

BONUS: I found a gorgeous summer dress at the thrift store in blue tones that works perfectly with that shirt!

I also dropped off two bags of donation clothing first, so my purchases were space-neutral today.

Today I learned that the water buffalo in Australia are not native. They were brought to Australia from Indonesia, but like so many other invasive species they adapted very well and have established a feral population.
