Today I am grateful for:
Reasonable weather. Colder again, but not unusual for this time of year.
A brief phone conversation with my Mom. She seemed in good spirits, so even if she doesn't have a lot to say, she seems comfortable and reasonably lucid.
When I spoke with my Trainwreck sister yesterday, one of the things we talked about was the relief of finally having Mom in care. This sister had been one of the ones fighting to keep Mom at home, and now she is seeing how happy and comfortable Mom is now, and feeling the relief of not having to be constantly checking on her and worrying about her safety.
I had a riding lesson today with River, and I made a point of getting there a little early this time. Normally I get there just in time for my lesson (allowing for time to get tacked up), but I'm thinking it makes sense for me to come early and do my warm up before my lesson begins, to make better use of my lesson time. It's not something R mentioned, and earlier on in my training with her, it made sense for her to see my warm up because at that time, even my warm up consisted of things we worked on together in our lesson. Now I think I have made it to a point where my warm up doesn't need to be critiqued. If I have issues or questions I can still mention them.
This paid off, as we had a little more time in our lesson for riding, something that sometimes we run out of time to work on because we do so much Liberty/groundwork.
I came home and had a nice bath.
I watched some of "Chernobyl", the British mini-series. It's not easy to watch, but probably something we should be educated about.
I learned about Derinkuyu, an underground city in Turkey. There are formations of fairly soft volcanic rock in Turkey that make excavation of tunnels and rooms fairly easy, so Turkey is riddled with elaborate underground cities and churches that have been used as places of refuge during times of war, and for religious refugees.
