Dick lazily pushed away from the rocky edge of the waterhole and followed through with a couple of languid backstrokes. “Ahh…” He sighed. “This is the life!”
Roy grinned. “God’s own country.” he let his legs float to the surface and kicked a spray of the cool water over his brother who was sitting quietly on the waters edge. “Stop moping little bro’. They’ll be fine.”
Connor shielded his eyes from the spray and playfully slashed his brother back. “I’m not moping. I‘m just thinking, that‘s all.”
Tim dived off the shore on the far side and swam underwater, surfacing with a noisy exhale near the other men. “Hey, don’t worry Arrow boy, its Batman and Green arrow, there’s nothing they can’t handle.”
Connor chuckled. “Oh, I wasn’t thinking about whether or they could handle things, I was thinking about the fact that I have to go home and listen to Dad complaining about this for the next month.”

Ollie tipped his hat back and wiped sweat from his brow with the back of his hand, leaving a red streak of dust smeared across his skin. “Are you sure this is the right way?”
“Of course I’m sure.” Bruce growled.
“That’s what you said two hours ago.” Ollie groused, kicking at a rock and sending it rolling into the back of the other man’s heel.
Bruce glowered at the archer, his normally stoic countenance slipping away like the sweat trickling down his back in the desert sun. “Well if you had shut up for five minutes and let me think, I wouldn’t have followed the wrong ravine after you dropped the damn compass and broke it…”
“Oh, so it’s my fault now?!” Ollie replied, looking affronted.
“Yes. It is.”
“You just can’t admit that you’re human can you?”
“Of course I can, but you can’t admit when something is you’re fault, can you?”
“The Big Bad Bat getting us lost in the desert, now that’s rich.” Ollie taunted irritably. “Just wait till Hal hears about this.”
Bruce stopped suddenly and whirled to face the archer, jabbing his pointer finger at the man as he spoke. “I didn’t get us lost. Your son did!”
Ollie‘s eyes narrowed. “Oh grow a pair. This isn’t Roy’s fault, you should’a been paying attention instead’a arguing with me when you knew I was right in the first place.” He stomped by Bruce brushing him with his shoulder as he passed. “You always were a self-righteous jerk.”
“Me?!” Bruce’s eyes flared angrily. “Oh that’s huge coming from the ‘Queen’ of egotism and arrogance!”
Ollie swiveled on his heel, his face red with more then sunburn. “Why you…I’d knock you down if I didn’t have to conserve my energy.” he bellowed. “You supercilious ass!”
“Imbecile!” Bruce called, already walking away from the other man. He blamed the desert heat for his giving in to the irrational urge to argue with the archer, normally he was quite capable of ignoring the man.
“Jerk!” Ollie called back, reluctantly following.

“Gang way!”
Roy laughed and ducked as the water from Dick’s ‘cannon ball’ hit him. “Race you to the other side!” he yelled, already swimming as fast as he could as Dick resurfaced.
“No fair Harper, I never said you could have a head start.” Dick yelled, racing behind the archer.
“This is a beautiful way to spend the afternoon.” Tim sighed happily, riding the waves made by the two older men as he floated contentedly.
“It sure is.” Connor agreed, smiling dreamily as he drifted languously alongside the current Robin. “No wonder Roy loves it out here so much.”
