So my trip to Quepos/Manuel Antonio was a complete success, thankfully. I was a little nervous on Saturday, because I woke up to quite a bit of rain falling. It was only 8, so I went back to sleep til about 9:30. By then, the rain had stopped, so I headed to the park. HELLO monkeys! I saw soooo many of them, which was super exciting. Up close and personal, too! One of them even touched me. I helped him turn on the water tap, and he kind of touched my hand like to say "thanks." Haha, it was so cute. Caught a few in the act of coitus as well, lol. Horny little monkeys.
I laid on the beach for a while, which was incredible, and then when it started to sprinkle again I hit some of the souvenir shops near the park. I headed back to the hostel to talk to Manuel, and after that I went into Quepos. I bought my return bus ticket for Sunday and did a little more shopping, and also got dinner at a little pizza place.
Sunday I had my SURF LESSON!!! It was awesome, of course. I'm kind of obsessed with surfing. I really wish I had been born in California... I'm pretty positive I would've been a completely different person. A surfer chick. No surf in Wisconsin, unfortunately. But, at least I can go on VACATION and enjoy it other places!!!
After surfing I changed at the hostel, then went to Cafe Milagro for some brunch. Had the most incredible chocolate/peanut butter milkshake! YUM!!! The chicken sandwich was decent too, but the shake was just outstanding. :) Skyped Mom for a bit and then took the bus into Quepos to wait for the bus to San José.
The bus ride back was looooong, and traffic was horrible. Luckily we had a really awesome bus driver who at one point pulled over and said, "Ok, we can continue the way we're going and arrive God-only-knows when, or we can go around the mountain and arrive in about an hour and a half." Everyone said he should do whatever he thought was fastest, so we ended up going around the mountain and got to San José around 7:10. Since the bus doesn't go to the Coca Cola terminal anymore I had to get off at the cemetery and walk about half a mile to get to the Parque la Merced. A nice man was headed that way too, and he walked with me... luckily, since 1) I would have had NO idea where I was going, and 2) the streets were dark and deserted and scary to walk alone as a woman in San José.
Unfortunately when I got back to my apartment the internet wasn't working, and it hasn't worked since! Wtf! It's so freaking annoying to come to the reception area to use the internet, especially since I can't really do that late at night... so I haven't been able to Skype Manuel at night, only during the day. Lame! It's driving me absolutely nuts, but I only have 2 days left here, so if they don't figure it out before I leave, I guess I'll live.
I got pretty sick Sunday night, and Monday was a pretty miserable day. I had an awful fever... it was 90 degrees out, and I was wearing fleece pants, a long sleeve T, a sweatshirt, AND wrapped in a blanket. Gross!! I hardly ate anything all day and definitely didn't do much of anything. Tuesday I was pretty much all better... weird. 24-hour flu, apparently.
So I'm REALLY disappointed that Mey can't go with to Puerto Viejo/Bocas. I've considered not going, but I'm like NO. You are so close to this wonderful opportunity to see beautiful things, you will NOT miss it just because you have no one to go with. So I guess I'll just meet people on tours and stuff. Although 2 of the tours I want to do have a 2 person minimum. SUPER LAME! WTF! Hopefully they can group me with someone else, because I really really REALLY want to go to the Jaguar Rescue. Not willing to miss that! I'll just have to make the best of my "alone time" oasis. Hopefully I don't get too lonely/nostalgic/homesick for Manuel.
I WILL BE IN HIS ARMS IN ONE WEEK!!! AHHHH!!!!! Honestly that is the only thing I want in this entire world right now. I'd leave now if money weren't an issue. Can you believe that? Never thought I'd say that, but I'm missing him so damn much. I need to be with him again.
I have a bunch of other stuff I wanted to say, but the battery on my laptop is dying, and since I'm in the RECEPTION area I didn't bring the power cord... yet another reason why not having internet in my apt is incredibly inconvenient. Also, I want to catch the next bus to Alajuela to get a couple things for my going away party. So, I guess I'll save it for another update! Maybe I'll get a chance later tonight. Until next time :)
