Some things that happened!
Last weekend was Dragoncon, which rocked hardcore. This was our first year attending, and I think that there is now no question whatsoever as to whether or not we will be attending it over Otakon from now on. So much in fact that 2010's tickets are already purchased. At a polar opposite to most Anime cons, there was so much to do that we actually ended up overdoing it and crashing at around 10-11 PM every night. No Mad Science NOR Pirate Party for us, alas.
Panels were fun, although I do wish that there was some more technical costume-building workshops to attend (such as... how-to make fiberglass. How-to make mascot costumes) and less theorywork in the costuming track. But a vast improvement overall. In addition, I went to see guest panels for possibly the first time: Patrick Stewart and Leonard Nimoy. William Shatner decided to randomly crash Nimoy's panel as well, which turned into hilarity and the two of them messing around for the remaining time. Also, according to Patrick Stewart, they've recorded the Royal Shakespeare Co production of Hamlet, so we WILL be getting a sweet DVD release some time next year! Yay! Also, King of Texas needs to be watched apparently.
Maggie was awesome and very Maggie; we got to run into Kat a whole bunch (in a different costume every time XP) and Carrie was kickass with her Thriller zombie-dance leading. Everyone had super snazzy, insanely tailored outfits too!
Plus the World of Warcraft costumes actually got finished! Yaaaaaaaaaaay. We sort of forgot to actually mull around the picture-taking area and there's some things I'd like to improve upon (like not running out of my trim), so I think we'll definitely be wearing them again at some point.
Scone = Sylvanas, Eve = Sally Whitemane, Me = Draenei Mage (Tamuura)
The rest are
over here. Non-Dragoncon related things:
-My video card blew up.... AGAIN. And had to be replaced.... AGAIN. What the hell. This happened about a week before the con, so I spent basically no time on the computer and the rest costuming. Meanwhile, we proceeded to watch a crazyass amount of South Park while doing this. Cartman is such a creep what the whaaaaaaat.
-Have now read most of Young Avengers. Hulkling/Wiccan is offically adorable. However, the lack of actual smoochings is obnoxious as hell. Frig to you, Marvel. Maybe you'll get over your double standards now that you've broken up the space lesbians. Bastards.
-I am STUPID excited to go see 9 this weekend. You better not disappoint me, movie, I swear to god.
