Actress required for a 30-min play!

May 27, 2005 12:07

Hi, I shall be staging a play I have written sometime this summer and am now assembling the cast and an actress is required.

Play title: Waiting for Goldman Sachs: a Satire of the Eighties, American Style
Style: Theatre of the absurd, very Samuel Beckett-ish (as you can perhaps tell from the title)

As I said yesterday, I can chuck my little script at you, and if you wanted to pair them up, I'd be delighted. I'd also be interested in being in the 6-minute thingy, as I haven't acted in ages and want to. Physically limber, got drama training...

Hey thanks. Yes, you'd be good for the 6-minute piece. Your personality would suit the role ; )

Re your play: I thought you were telling me that it wouldn't go with it because it was too serious?! (If you mean the two-person one between the guy and the girl)

It is serious. That doesn't necessarily mean they won't go together. My shorter one might make a good counterpoint to your longer one (oo-er). It needs to be re-written, though, as I wrote it eight years ago and know a lot more about decent dialogue than I did when I was 20....

Is the shorter one about the multiple personalities?

Do you know Georgie? She is an actress friend of mine, Thunder, Cecile, Sheridan... lots of peeps. Have a look at morbidfrog (Cecile)'s LJ as she recently posted about Georgie's current play. I can put her in touch with you if you want... x

Make sure you give me plenty of notice on this, so I can organise train tickets and things. Is it likely to be on or near a weekend?

ok will do. I don't know if it would be on a weekend yet. I hope so but I suppose part of it will depend on how much a theatre will cost on the weekend vs the week. I would love to do it at the Etcetera (on Camden High Street) but it may be too small. There is also the Red Lion in Angel I suppose and then a variety of other venues all over the place. Will check it out!

I can't even lie to work convincingly. But go you for having the initiative to put this together, I will definitely attend!

Groovy! Thanks. Of course, you out do me in the promo stakes with all your club nights but hey! I look forward to you being in the audience. I shall be directing and possibly doing lights if nec ; ) It really won't be that expensive to put on as I'll only need the theatre for about an hour. It will also, of course, be free to the audience!

Hi there. Just saw the post and am very interested. I have several years' drama training (in NYC and London) and don't always look as crazy as my icon. I love theatre of the absurd. I did Waiting for Godot several years ago and never quite recovered! I'm in the States at the moment but perhaps we can discuss this more on my return next week?

Hi Gigi, if you email me your postal address to moofqueen@yahoo.com when you get back, then I can drop a few pages of the script to you in the post and you can let me know if it is the kind of thing that would interest you. Also, loved the picture of you in the Observer. It was fabulous!
